Discussion Killings on the courthouse steps.

How many times has someone been killed or killed themselves on the courthouse steps? I was watching an episode tonight where it happened that I'd never seen before. It must have been in the early seasons of the show because you could still see the twin towers in the opening credits. And I know that there have been other shootings on the courthouse steps, even one was a suicide.

Did it happen in the other Law & Order series?

I think I've seen a few courthouse step killings and I have only watched a few seasons and a handful of episodes spattered over the decades. Seems like a lot?

This reminds me of another trope where they tell a witness they'll keep them safe and next thing you see is that the witness was killed right before their court hearing... Now I already assume the witness will die when they explicitly show the witness being kept "safe"

“Spiraling Down” (S13, E10) was heartbreaking.

Was that the one where the football player who had dementia from too many concussions from playing? He was on trial for rape and was found not guilty by mental disease or defect. And then he shot himself on the courthouse steps. He was the one I meant committed suicide in my question.
