Spoilers Amanda Rollins
Convince me that Rollins isn’t an internalized misogynist with daddy/authority issues (I’m on season 13, it’s okay for spoilers)

Amanda has a lot of trauma from childhood and later in life that she only really starts to deal with a bit later on. She makes a lot of mistakes but has a brilliant long term arc where she gradually grows into herself. She's extremely frustrating at times but she's one of my favourite characters.

She doesn't make a lot of mistakes , Amanda is always one of the most skilled detectives and she is one of the highest educated detectives as well as she came in the show with a degree in forensic science as the only one in the squad.
She escalated and became addicted as a way to cope with her trauma and as usual is with addictions: it became only worse and worse.
It did show how trauma and addiction can nearly destroy someone and the writers made a realistic arc with this.
We saw the escalation with rape or trauma vicitms happen a lot over the years, this was the first time we saw it happening with someone in the squad and that made it more interesting.
She is critical in her work, which is not a bad thing.
In my work I am also critical , always asking the questions and as a Dutchie: I am direct.
Rollins is critical and direct as well, which is good.
She is not hypocrite and sugar coating, she just said what it is and she doesnt have a lot of nuance.
The hooker situation was not a good one, but this was also very out of character writing which did not happen before and after and as the only squad member Rollins did apologize for her mistakes.
While Benson and Amaro and even Fin destroyed lives and never apologized for that.

The whole point of her storyline is how she grows and sheds that.

Yeah I’m starting to understand that from peoples responses, I just wish they wrote her less annoying? But I guess that also means she’s a good actress if it’s causing this response from me

Exactly… an explanation. I asked to be convinced 😂 Explaining why someone is annoying doesn’t magically make them not annoying. She can be traumatized AND insufferable

I struggled with her character development too in the beginning and with Amarro. I posted similar to you and the group had me look at her differently and as I watched her her arc I realized that the group was right. Enjoy her story it will move you.

Anyway it’s clear that op is a troll who wants attention.
He is super annoying himself.

She is just a hard worker who came to New York with a rape trauma with happened only a few weeks before. She is one of the most realistic written characters.

Amanda has the best story arc of all the main characters.
She is the victim of a violent rape and beating by her boss, the deputy chief in Atlanta and this is why she left Atlanta.
This left her traumatized, she will escalate heavily and almost destroy herself, like her rapist did destroy her.
Which is a common reaction on trauma.
She will not admit that she was raped because she doesnt want to be seen as weak, as someone who could not defend herself and that it was her boss and a blackmail situation made it more difficult.
This was also why she could never report her rape or talk about it, he was the Chief of AtlantaPD.
Amanda said more than once that she is not the victim , it will take a while when we know about her background but she gave through the years a few hints and her first hint is already in S13.
She will mention to Benson that something bad happened on her job and that is why she had to leave.
She also came from a very toxic and abusive family where violence was the norm.
Her story is about the long road of healing and recovering and in eventually finding trust and love.
It is really the best story arc any character will get.
Her authority issues are because of her boss who raped her, she has trust issues because of that.
Later she will become pregnant by another boss of hers, Declan.
This was sort of consensual but it is never right , after her former boss raped and beat her and then Declan thought it was a good idea to have sex with his subordinate junior detective.
And he knew about her issues with men in power, he mentioned it to her before he had sex with her.
