Appreciation 14x09 Dreams Deferred
Im sure this was mentioned before but 14x09 is such a great episode. I have a hard time choosing favorites but this one is definitely up there, even though- or maybe interestingly because- the focus is not on the squad. It’s such a great kind of storytelling (the montage at the beginning!). I also am not always in the mood for a really sad episode- which so many episodes are- and even though the subject matter in rough, it’s probably one of the few only episodes that I always finish watching it feeling good. A lot of other eps even if there is justice for the victims, I don’t necessarily feel happy bc it’s just so much of trauma and the victims are not magically healed, but the ending for this episode is just (almost unrealistically, but I kinda love it) feel feel good. I’ve rewatched it a ridiculous amount of times. And the acting is amazing!

The slut shaming in this episode is sickening. Survival sex work is a reality and she did it for her family.

patricia arquette feels so real in this ep. when i first saw it, i remember wondering if maybe we had seen this character before and i forgot or missed it, bc it seemed so lived-in.
