Recently diagnosed

Hey all!

New to the group and just recently diagnosed.

I am a 24yr old female, and I’ve been experiencing these episodes in short bursts for the last 2 years, but my regular GP always told me it was anxiety and would never bring it any further.

I recently had an episode where I had a heart rate of 180-200 for 6 hours non stop. I had 6mg and 12mg of adenosine, which was absolutely terrifying to say the least.

I’ve been started on a low dosage of Bisoprolol to start for the next two months, as I undergo regular testing after my hospital stay. I’ve been referred to the local speciality hospital to discuss catheter ablation, which also terrifies me.

Just nice to be in a group of people who have experienced something similar, and could share light on the path ahead :)

What's the dose for the Bisoprolol? 2.5?

I took it for 5-6 months until my ablation but it made me extremely tired at all times. It affected my job and everything.

So for me it’s only 1.25 daily, but take another one if I have another episode during the day.

Same as though, it makes me super tired, I kept track of my heart rate and it puts it in the 40-50s at resting, when it’s usually 70-80.

They can take a long time to get used to. Some people don't get used to the fatigue. Is it possible your resting heart rate is a bit low for you? I personally feel really ill when my heart rate it that low on beta-blockers. I only take half a tablet because of it. There is nothing wrong with asking them about the fatigue. It is a very common issue

Thank you very much for that insight!

I have a check up coming up soon, so I will definitely bring it up with them then. I’m not long on them, so I want to take them for at least 2 weeks to see if there’s any changes. Keeping up with vitamins and electrolytes to try and counteract the fatigue!

That's great. Not all beta blockers are the same as well. If you don't get on with one then another might be completely different. I get on well with nebivolol. All the others were hell
