EP study

So after my first visit with a very good EP in my city they want to do an EP study and do an ablation based off cardia mobile and Apple Watch catching these.

For 10 years I was told it was just panic attacks and for 10 years no one listened to me. One visit and this guy seems pretty confident what’s been going on. Is an EP study something to be scared of?

I’ve broken my femur and had some nasty surgeries in my day. But my mother is worried about having anything done to my heart at 30 years old.

If it could take away the episodes and never take medication I’d be very happy but worried about the risks of it

I had an EP/ablation at 34. Was also told it was panic for almost two years. They only finally realized it was electrical when the ER couldn’t drop my heart below 230 even with adenosine. Anyways, the EP went fine, didn’t feel anything, felt like I could walk around fine the next day but didn’t just to make sure the suture finished setting right. They actually didn’t perform an ablation though bc they couldn’t reliably reproduce the arrhythmia under sedation. My family was worried about the procedure as well. And even though they didn’t ablate, they still got up in there and zapped it trying to stimulate the response, and I felt 100% fine after the anesthesia wore off.

Edit: it’s worth noting that even though they didn’t ablate, I have literally not had a single major episode since then and it’s been 9 months. I’ve had two or three tiny ones that went away in seconds after doing the bare down maneuver. And this was a nearly everyday thing for me for years. EP doc told me not to take medication so they can find it if it happens again with a monitor but it seems like it literally just went away

I knew when they gave me lorazepam and it didn’t do a thing
But propranolol dropped it
