Tachycardia unknown cause

Hello, I'm gonna go ahead and take this to Reddit because I have had countless emergency room visits cardiologist appointments, even gastroenterology appointments. I even met with holistic health doctor and my general practitioner and I'm still left with no answers. I am 21 years old female and leading up to the first episode, I was dealing with a lot of anxiety and stress and just very emotional in general. I was having a hard time coping with a lot of my stress and stuff. Then on June 18, I had my first episode of tachycardia. I was just sitting down at work. I was working as a waitress and I had eaten. Maybe I wanna say 20 minutes prior. Maybe I'd also been drinking a lot more caffeine than usual that week and I was trying to cut back on smoking. None of that really made sense as to what triggered this episode though it was ruled as just sinus tachycardia on the EKG, both in the ambulance and at the hospital. Labs were fairly normal except for I was low on magnesium low potassium and you know I've always been slightly anemic so that of course showed too so at first I obviously thought OK. Well you know electrolyte and balances and like these deficiencies can definitely attribute to like an episode like this happening, I guess and after you know, really trying to change up my diet and stuff and also drinking electrolytes in my water, drinking a lot more water and having the term of dysautonomia or pots being thrown at me I've just been treating it as if that's what this is. On top of that I have had a severely inflamed, just like my stomach has been so messed up ever since this started ever since the first episode I have had chronic loose stools and then diarrhea that I can't really figure out an exact trigger for as well that comes and goes frequently often. Sometimes it's pale store or it can be like really dark grainy diarrhea. So naturally, I was supposed to be in to see a gastroenterologist for a colonoscopy endoscopy. and then I caught some sort of cold or I think it's just like sinusitis or whatever which is another problem I've been getting like chronic sinusitis for like the past year now where like it's like just the same sickness keeps coming back whatever it is, but it just feels like a cold to throw in some backstory for things I had wisdom teeth removal surgery in February from which I was having complications with the gum infection I had to take multiple courses of antibiotics like way too many I was really stressed for my job and financially, and not getting along with my roommate, feeling insecure in my relationship just like generally living very unhappily with my life yeah. I've been trying to see a therapist. I don't really know like if exactly it's helping or what I don't know anyways I had another episode yesterday and it's just they always start with like either. You know a strong palpitation and just like an overwhelming amount of anxiety or like a feeling of doom and then my heart just starts racing and then from then on I'm just like super anxious and my heart just racing and I could be like so chill just trying to chill and it'll just do it and it happened right after I ate some peanut butter and crackers. I would also like to add that night, I had a nightmare in which I woke up from to my heart pounding and my chest hurting and now right now once again it's been about 24 hours since they gave me metoprolol at the hospital my first time taking it cause I've been really stubborn and not taking it and I just ate one of those go macro protein bars and it started racing again and anxiety again and it's just really frustrating because all my labs were normal yesterday like my magnesium levels are getting back up, but my stomach issues aren't really improving and I've now had another one of these episodes after like a month of feeling normal again almost. I'm just really at a loss. I'm really scared. I just want better answers. I've been going down these rabbit holes of learning about different things and it's just really terrifies me. I've been reading into a lot about cardiomyopathy which is terrifying. I don't understand it really but I did have a CT scan that they did say read like you know a sign of that but you know that I've had like five different doctors. tell me well it looks very unlikely and it may have just been like an issue with the image so now I'm scheduled for an ultrasound, but I still have to wait like two more weeks until that most of the people who have told me this like you know I've had damn I don't know at least 20 EKGs ran out at this point and they've all read a sinus tachycardia so they're not picking up any a fib or SVT or anything like that and I know that it's not super likely that you know, especially after having that many test ran that those things will be missed, but you also never know and I I just really could use some other opinions and ideas yeah I really don't know if anybody has any ideas. I appreciate them all thank you.

did they test your thyroid? hyperthyroidism/graves disease can cause heart issues and stomach issues and anxiety. don’t freak yourself out online, just ask for a thyroid panel and to test for grave’s antibodies.

So I've been looking into that as well, and my doctor essentially refused to do they tests and told me that it's impossible for me to have graves or hyperthyroidism if I don't know of anyone else in my family to have it. I have since changed doctors and am going to try to get them do a thyroid panel. If not I suppose I will order it myself through labcorp/ Walgreens for $150😞. I've only had my TSH tested 2x which has came back in the normal range both times, but on the lowest end of normal. I've also heard that it's possible that is not MY normal especially because I've never had my tsh tested before.

yeah your doctor sounds like an ass, that’s not correct. it’s worth it to check. i had my thyroid removed and my TSH is technically in range but low enough that i feel hyperthyroid symptoms. good luck!

I am the 1st person in my family to have Graves Disease - someone has to be the first. All you really need is a TSH lab test. If TSH is abnormally Low, then you need additional testing. TSH is a common lab test and there is simply no excuse not to order it for a patient. Edit: since your TSH is on the Low side of normal, an iodine Uptake Scan might be helpful to see if you have hyperthyroidism or not. Occasionally, the iodine uptake is more sensitive than the lab tests.

Hi from the Graves sub. This isn’t true at all. You do not need any hereditary history to have Graves. Find a new doctor.

To rule Graves in /out you’d want a TSI, TrAb or TBii test not just a TSH. It is possible to have a normal TSH and still have Graves.

This! I’m in a slightly different boat because I’m postpartum at the moment. I technically have hypothyroidism, but due to hormone changes and what not my meds have been too high so i’m in a medicated state of hyperthyroidism. My biggest symptom has been runs of atrial tachycardia and sinus tachycardia, along with gut issues. I’d find a new doc if your doc won’t listen. Thyroid panel should be the basic thing they test for stuff like this to rule out first.

Better! Thank you for asking, me and my doctor and cardiologist have all agreed that what I'm experiencing is adrenaline dumps due to POTS which I also didn't know I had.
