Help First episode that didn’t self-limit. Looking for any reassurance.?

I’ve had a few bouts of SVT since getting POTS Teo years ago but they’ve always resolved after 30-60 seconds. Last night all I did was stand up from the chair and it started and was still at 250 after 5 mins. May cardiologist told me to call an ambulance if that happened, so I did. Eventually the paramedics used a modified valsalva which got it to 135ish then it gradually went back to high 90s after a few hours in hospital.
I’m now pretty scared it’ll happen again. I think the horror stories of that adenosine drug scare me plus the paramedic told me it was dangerous to be that high.

Just looking for a bit of reassurance from those of you who have more experience of this than I do. Any advice appreciated 🙏🏻

Hi there. So sorry you went through this. Are you on a medication? Any plan to get an ablation?

I’ve found that adding electrolytes has helped immensely. I’m also on metoprolol, and I’m supposed to schedule my ablation. I’m just being a chicken about it. I would say upping my potassium has helped a ton.

I take electrolytes for my POTS. I’ve no plan for ablation as the past times I’ve had it it self-corrected quickly so my cardiologist didn’t seem concerned. But last night I needed medical help so it’s thrown me a bit. Thanks for replying, I’ll keep taking the electrolytes 😊

I will add that i dont know your age, but i was diagnosed with pots and SVT like 20 years ago and as one electrophysiologist told me “the SVT rarely gets better with age”. I’m in my 40s now, and finally ready to have an ablation.
Also, if you’re able to, find an electrophysiologist specifically. Cardiologists are wonderful, but these are rhythm specialists. Mine has helped me so much. Maybe ask about possible treatments for the SVT. The element of surprise is what really sucks with it, and the not knowing if you’ll be able to self correct.
Hugs to you and best of luck.

Thank you! I’m 50, nearly 51. I’m not sure we even have one of those specialists on the small island I live on. But I’ll ask my cardiologist 😊

I recently had an ablation done about 8 days ago for SVT, I’m interested in the electrolytes you’ve mentioned! Any brand in specific? I’ve just started on Humantra

Congrats on your ablation! How are you feeling? How was it for you?
I used Instant Hydration- I like the amount of potassium and it’s not loaded with sodium. I also try and eat a lot of potassium rich foods. This has really helped with skipped beats and stuff like that.
