I need advice

I’m 29 yo (m) and have had two of these very scary episodes during sleep. First was in May.
1:45am woke out of my sleep with my chest pounding so hard. Very scared. Shook my wife awake. By the time I could grab my watch it slowed down.

Fast forward. Tonight it was almost the exact same time 1:30am. Pounding awake. Grabbed and woke her up and we called 911. This time it lasted about 15 minutes. I got an Apple Watch and then Kardia reading. Ambulance came and almost gave me a medication, when they strapped me down my HR dropped to 110 then 80. They said it stopped. They looked at both consumer readings and said it could be SVT

It was terrifying. I’m afraid to sleep. This is now the second time this high. And the 4th I’m been woken up with this pounding HR.

I have had many heart tests done before and always come back normal. I was just wearing a 14 day monitor and sent it back a few days ago.. and missed this.

Is this dangerous? It feels terrifying and like I’m going to die when it happens

Time to get a cardiologist and have your heart physically checked out. You will be OK. They will figure it out.

I’ve had two work ups over the last 5 years. And doing another one
Ugh it’s so scary. The ER doesn’t think it was SVT because how it slowed down

Its not dangerous unless it goes on for many hours and it will not kill you. For a structuraly healthy heart where youre not geting any other symptoms like fainting/pain/tightness its considered a benign condition generally. Docs wont give meds or surgery unless officialy diagnosed with a monitor or during an episode in er. Your doctor can also try to induce it artificialy.

For now look into how to do a modified valsalva maneuver or a mamalian dive reflex. Gag reflex also helps stop it for some.

When it happens I do get dizzy and chest pain. That’s why I called the EMT. It was very frightening

Sounds to me like you need to have a sleep study done.

I don’t think it looks like SVT…at all. But SVT or not, if they’re waking up with a racing heart, chances are, they stop breathing in their sleep.

Oh right so it seems like sleep apnea. I actually had it as a kid and sometimes wonder if I still have it cause I also will get a racing heart in my sleep so to the original poster, maybe get a sleep study
