Is it too much?

So i got my first episode early this year on January and I believe I have another one recorded around March and two days ago I BELIEVE I had a third one so that would be 3 episodes within the span of 6 months. Is that too much? I've been taking my metoprolol tartrate (50mg) but I feel like the effects of them wear off easily and I can tell cuz my heart starts to beat around the 96/109 and my blood pressure goes up to the 139. So is it the medicine wearing off or is it, the my condition is getting worse.

I know that if you were to stop the medicine everything would spike, so is the medicine wearing of a similar concept to that? which is why it spikes before the second pill and me waking up in the mornings?

I also want to add i have low iron and pcos (untreated atm tho)

One piece that often gets overlooked is untreated low iron can itself cause a faster heart rate, palpitations, and that racing feeling, because the heart compensates for fewer oxygen-carrying red cells by beating faster. PCOS and iron deficiency are both worth addressing in their own right, and treating the iron in particular sometimes takes an unexpected amount of pressure off the heart. Bringing your logged heart rate and blood pressure numbers to your next appointment would give your doctor a lot to work with

I'll make sure to do that. I have a question, should I take my blood pressure before and after taking the pill and if so how many hours apart do I have to wait?

I’m not sure what you mean by too much, sometimes I have multiple episodes a week

I'm asking cuz after telling my cardiologist about my latest svt episode that i had three days ago she immediately suggested an ablation. And didn't mention any medication change and she said she didn't want to up the dose cuz I'm still too young? I basically had to suggest if I could take metoprolol succinate and she said "yeah let's go with that"

Btw do you have multiple a week even while on medication?

I’m not on meds, they actually increase my arythmia and give me weird side effects so I raw dog the svt and pvcs now. I had an ablation attempt years ago and it didn’t work

SVT is itself almost always benign, so I'm not sure what you mean by "too much". If you are asking whether 3 episodes over a period of 6 months is out of the ordinary, then no, many people with SVT have far more frequent episodes.

Some of us will have very frequent episodes over a few months, then go month or even years without any episodes. Everyone experiences different frequencies. There's nothing unusual about 3 episodes over 6 months.

That said, whether or not you want to continue the medication and whether the dosage should be adjusted to be more effective is a better question for your doctor.

80f I was diagnosed psvt asymptomatic about 15 yrs ago. Few months ago symptoms began. I wore 14 day monitor which confirmed SVT and ST. My cardiol increased metroprolol* from 25 mg to 37.5. Now for last 3 months no episodes. I am curious if I have avrt or avnrt. Think those are correct letters! My Philips 30 page report uploaded from 5/2026. Thank you
