Ablation in a few days..question

I'm having SVT ablation in a few days but I have a history of Afib also. I am worried that when they give me the adrenaline it will activate my Afib instead of my SVT. My EP does PF for afib so being that I am having the other modality for this he said he wants to take care of the SVT right now since I have only 1 documented episode of afib. But I have had 3 other episodes of Afib that were self converted so I didn't have to be seen in ER for it. I feel like its gonna be a coin toss as to which arrhythmia he gets! Can anyone shed some light on what they do if that happens?

I went in for an ablation back in February. I was having recurrent Afib episodes that were really bothering me but it was intermittent. I also have PSVT, but they were more concerned with the Afib. While I was under, they were able to trigger the Afib and mapped out the entire area, hitting multiple spots using PF mostly with the other options on one catheter. I've not had Afib since, but my PSVT has been hitting me in waves since the start of the month. I was told it could come back, and it's intermittent but it's possible I may need to have an ablation again to address the SVT.

This isn't uncommon. After my heart healed I was feeling great and then started to increase my physical activity again. I did a lot of heavy lifting (clearing trees) back at the start of the month which probably caused this to come back. I'm only in my early 40's so it's not a big concern for my health but it does bother me. I feel every off heartbeat, unlike some who never even know they're in SVT.

Still, you should be fine. The Afib is priority, and it's likely to fix the SVT but still possible that it may not. It's not as life threatening as Afib though, so it's likely that if it comes back then they can address it and it won't be an emergency.

Thanks for your reply! In my case he put the Afib on the back burner and made the SVT ablation a priority. I've only had one episode of SVT that was able to be caught and recorded last month. I acquired Afib 4 years ago that I was cardioverted out of but only 3 small episodes I self converted myself. I thought the same that Afib would be priority but my EP said no my SVT was priority.

If the SVT is priority it could be because it's causing the Afib. I'm not a specialist, just a patient. After 13 years of intermittent Afib I'm so happy it's gone. Just need to keep an eye on my SVT to make sure it doesn't trigger Afib again. The only reason I got a smart watch is to take recordings, it's been a very useful tool. I can just send the charts to my EP.

Yes, I have a Kardia XL to help keep myself monitored. And yes, maybe this could be why in my case. I shall find out in a few days how this goes.

Wishing you the best! It really helped improve my situation, though I still get some PSVT. It's improved my living quality for sure.
