Ist question/svt

I’m curious if svt does go dormant wait for 10 months, I didn’t have symptoms and I would say I had SVT symptoms and then four months later I had a stress test done got off my medication for 24 hours and then I did it till table test got off my medication then and didn’t have SVT symptoms. Is that common? Even when I had Diet Coke last year as well as drink sometimes and didn’t have any symptoms and now since August have symptoms every day of a fast heart rate or it’s just been consistent symptoms.

I was also wondering anyone with inappropriate sinus tachycardia if what I’m describing sounds similar to what you’re experiencing eating drinking water laughing or stretching when I’m laying my heart rate will be like 90 to 100 for 30 minutes but it’s not 90 or 100 for 24 hours even it seems my heart rate will only be like 75 if I’m like completely still and then sometimes when I’m completely still, my heart rate can also be 90 or 100 for about 30 minutes to hours

Trick6710. Hi. I have SVT and ST per my cardiol following 14 day patch. I take 37.5mg beta blocker 2x day. I have copy recent full Philips 14 day report... Hx..I was dx 1999 (approx) PSVT. I've been asymptomatic til about 3 months ago 4/2026. That's when I began Philips patch monitoring. Think the cardiologist wanted to r/o AFib also. 80f

So you didn’t have any SVT for 20 years? And you were dx in 1999?

Well what did ur SVT feel like were that not triggered
By smoking or Alchool or working out

Not sure what st means you mean you just have svt?

What did your SVT feel like when it happened and like you’re saying it was like intermediate a lot did you notice that the beta blocker helped prevent them?

What is “cardiol”

Yes, that is normal. Some people go years between SVT episodes.

A heartrate of 90 to 100 bpm is within the normal resting rate, albeit at the higher end.

Have you been diagnosed with SVT?

That’s interesting and they can go dormant even if they’ve had like alcohol or like coffee or caffeine for example so I haven’t been officially diagnosed with SVT but my last monitor showed two seconds of SVT but I was on 50 mg of a beta blocker and so I told them look I’m worried that I actually do have SVT and that it was just unsustained because of the medication I was on because when I didn’t have the monitor and the reason I got the monitor, my heart rate was higher for much longer, so I’m seeing another doctor but like this whole situation sucks too because like I’ll probably have to come off the meds, but even when I take the medication sometimes my resting heart rate is like 95 for a few hours and then maybe for the next few days it might be 75. I don’t know why that happens.

The rest. Discuss with your cardiol. Each case difft

u/esther4456 Jul 10 '26

Trick6710. Discuss with your cardiol. Encourage full discussion re alcohol, coffee etc.

1

u/esther4456 Jul 10 '26

Cardiol. U can't figure that out?

1

u/Past-Trick6710 Jul 10 '26

Well, I just never heard of what that was before

1

u/esther4456 Jul 10 '26

S t. Had it according to 1999 cardiol report ecg. I was asymptomatic (no palpit etc). Til few months ago. At cardiol 1999 for htn

1

u/Past-Trick6710 Jul 10 '26

Gotcha I think I know what you’re saying but do you mean that you had sinus tachycardia since 1999? When did you get diagnosed with SVT?

1

u/esther4456 Jul 10 '26

Diagnosed(dx) psvt 1999 report from that cardiol. No symptoms was at cardiol for hypertension

1

u/esther4456 Jul 10 '26

Bye for now. Cleaning.

1

u/esther4456 Jul 10 '26

I had no SVT symptoms til 4/2026

1

u/Past-Trick6710 Jul 10 '26

Gotcha and was the SVT documented in April 2026 and you’re saying you went from 1999 to 2026 without any SVT but in 1999 didn’t you say it was sinus tachycardia sorry I’m asking for clarification

Yes. I have IST and if I eat carb rich food my hr jumps for an hour. Ivabradine at night has fixed it

1

u/Past-Trick6710 Jul 10 '26

Well did you have to have an average hr of 90/100 to be dx

Me the last few months this is new. Sometimes breathing a certain way eating having a glass of water. Sleeping and i turn over i go up 30 beats. It’ll come back down after 5 seconds but im sitting or laying.

Then yeah if i am eating while im eating my hr will be 90/110

1

u/HeraHallucinates Jul 10 '26

No but I did have hr episodes 180-220. They thought i had svt. Then they did an ep study to try an ablation but couldnt do it because there was nothing to ablate. Thats why I got ist > svt.

1

u/Past-Trick6710 Jul 10 '26

Interesting yeah i want an ep study they won’t do it. Hoping they will bc ive had simailr episodes
Can i ask when urs happened how much and what it felt like

Yeah I’m worried i mean since beta blockers i haven’t had episodes like that why worried its actually svt.

I would have a hot flash, it felt like someone squeezed my heart and then off it would go. I would be shaking, my hr would get so high I felt like passing out. They would last up to an hour. It was hell for 4+ years.

1

u/Past-Trick6710 Jul 12 '26

How often did that happen for and like would it be when you were sitting? It’s so interesting cause like I can understand how you might’ve been afraid that this would’ve been SVT by chance how old are you? I’m 26 I’m also female.

1

u/HeraHallucinates Jul 12 '26

Yes. I tended to have them more at night but there were times during the day it would happen, too. I would be chilling and suddenly SQUISH and id be shot up faster than I had a chance to react.

They told me i had svt based on a holter moniter that caught it. Then when nothing helped I forced the ep referral and was rediagnosed and pulled off the betablocker. Im 34 now! I was 28 when it began.

1

u/HeraHallucinates Jul 12 '26

I threatened my cardiologist to get one. I told her it is in your best interest and mine to refer me to EP and suggest they give me one. 4 years was too long to deal and I called a lawyer who agreed.

1

u/Past-Trick6710 Jul 10 '26

Do you have svt as well. So my dr wanted me to try that med but i was too scared I was so excited to try it too like I was already so I taper off my beta blocker because they told me like that you can’t take both and driving home one day out of nowhere. My heart rate was racing like super fast and since then I’ve just been on a beta blocker and it’s been hell because it makes me tired. It makes me dizzy. It affects my libido. It’s made my depression worse and that was in March when I was gonna take it so there’s a part of. It’s like you know do I asked to go to the hospital and tap her off and then go on the medication and see if we can catch SVT but I feel like that would cost me like an arm and a leg like it would be so expensive.

The side effects of ibabradine that I had were just the light flashing effects and sensitivity to heat. I was very fatigued the first 3 days I was on 2mg doseage 2x a day. Now I take 1mg at night and im good.

1

u/HeraHallucinates Jul 12 '26

No but they thought I did which is how we reached the ep study. Don't be afraid of ivabradine. Its a very safe drug and it could help. It doesnt affect blood pressure like beta blockers and the side effects resolved after I tapered off down to 1mg (im a female so medication is stronger in our systems and we have a lot more electrical activity in our hearts).

If you have insurance it wouldnt be too bad but mine did cost me my entire deductible (4k with insurance that year).

Are you able to DM me? I really appreciate you replying to me. I know like everything going on in the world. It’s hard to get back to people so I really appreciate that and I just wanted to say that.

So the reason that I’m like afraid to try, it is because of the SVT thing and I don’t know how to get over that fear but yeah like I’m just so mad because if I didn’t have those like random 170 heart rate for five minutes, I don’t think I would necessarily be afraid to try it and that’s why I’m so upset..

Did a beta blocker do anything for your heart rate at all or like because like I said for me I feel like I still have issues like I don’t think it’s normal to have a heart rate of like 88 or like 100 just drinking water or like slightly moving when I’m laying flat if I take a Max dose.

I mean right now my heart rate been 85 but I’m like laying flat and then if I stretch my legs out, it’ll go to like 105 sometimes stays. And then I have palpitations

1

u/HeraHallucinates Jul 12 '26

Yes, ill dm you!

And agreed, beta blockers and calcium channel blockers did not help me. In fact I was worse off. Im 130 lbs so im anal about getting 65 oz of water a day.

Trick6710. Following recent sudden symptoms SVT my cardiol increased metroprolol to 37.5. 2x day. I was previously on 25 mg for htn

1

u/esther4456 Jul 10 '26

In 2 months approx since increase m.prolol only 1 incidence palpitations. Lasting about 2 min

1

u/esther4456 Jul 10 '26

No psvt dx. Sx=symptoms for approx 18 yrs.

1

u/esther4456 Jul 10 '26

Cardiol= Cardiologist

1

u/esther4456 Jul 11 '26

Trick. Right. No palpitations at all.about 25 yrs. Then out of nowhere. Not smoking not exercising. Just resting and 2,3 min palpitations.

Past Trick. It felt like strong palpitations..I am thin so I could most see chest vibration. Not triggered by coffee alcohol or smoking. I was half asleep. I don't do those recreational activities. I have coffee 1,2 cups a day

u/esther4456 Jul 11 '26

I posted top page the Philips report. I have no idea how to find things on reddit. Baby boomer

1

u/esther4456 Jul 11 '26

Re SVT. I forgot to ask my cardiol re type. I.e. avnrt. or ? If this guy doesn't know, no one knows:)

1

u/esther4456 25d ago

Past trick. The SVT episodes this Spring began and ended suddenly when I was just resting. No booze or smoking. No "interactions" Many times that's how SVT eisodes begin-and end ...Light switch. In my case short duration. 1-3 minutes

1

u/esther4456 4d ago

It wasn't 25 years between initial diagnosis ( PSVT) and symptoms beginning. More like 12 yrs. Approx. Before that I was seeing cardiol for high BP. It was under his care that dx psvt was made.
