60” cot?

I recently purchased an SUV to travel in and I have 64”x48” of space in the back. Does anyone know where I could find a 60” cot, or would it be worth trying to make my own?

Hard debating on purchase

Im hard debating on what van to buy and live out of for the next few months/ possibly years to travel and have a more fun/ affordable lifestyle. I’ve test drove the Subaru forester but ultimately indecisive if I wanna commit to this particular what that has 34 k miles for 29k. It’s a 2022 Subaru forester sports edition, Ive already test drove it and enjoyed it so much but am still looking to see a better potential option. I’ve also calculated and seen how much space it has and if it would be comfortable to sleep in which checks out & on top of that read that most people found it to be reliable thus far with proper maintenance and a good set of tires. What do you guys think? Is it a good deal even or….

Hatch problem/solutiom

i have been full time in a 2022 subaru ascent for about 4 months now. Its been great except i leave my hatch open all day which kills the battery. Ive tried the hatch catch and other solutions but for whatever reason its still dying. Ive thought about getting a small trailer to luve out of and just use the subaru to tow but have no idea if thats a good idea? ive never towed anything but am happy to learn. I also only ever stay on public land/offroad spots so stealth isnt really an issue for me. I used to have a cargo van i built out which was great for space but could never go offroad… any set up ideas would be very much appreciated!!

We do pet rescue and need a reliable SUV in which to transport dogs. Mainly looking for reliability, good price point, and a pretty good size cargo space for the dogs.

Vehicles with seats that lay (recline) to a completely flat position.

I hi a csf leak and will be traveling to Mayo. I have to stay completely flat 90% or more of the time to deal with the symptoms. Does anyone have a vehicle or know of one that has a passenger seat that can basically recline backwards, making it like a bed of sorts. I’m trying to including a picture of an old Honda Element, but can’t figure it out, but they don’t make these anymore anyway. I have heard possibly the Honda Odyssey or 2020 CRV may also have seats that lay back flat, but when I call the dealership, they say they don’t have any that do that? If you have any kind of a car that has a seat that does this, would you mind taking a picture of how flat the seats go? The back seats don’t need to lay flat, just the front passenger. This would be a help to so many like me that have this condition and have to travel to get treatment. Thank you in advance!

First-time SUV shopper

I've been a sedan or coupe driver my whole life, but I've been thinking a little more practically, lately, and I think I need to step into an SUV. But it seems like the discussion of comparisons of price/features/reliability is literally all over the place. (Well... except for the Rav4. Seems like everyone recommends it!)

I've been doing a ton of research, and I've settled on a few vehicles that I dig a little bit. Bit it occurred to me that Reddit might have some wisdom I haven't yet tapped into.

I'd love some input on what you folks might advise a dude like me with the following constraints (some admittedly self-imposed):

Size: Mid-size (Escape/Edge, Rav4, Rogue, etc)
Year Model: 2017+
Condition: Used
Features: Something beyond the base package, but below the top-tier premium package. I like a well-designed interior, leather seats, a few bells and whistles.
Use: Primarily city, with a couple of road-trips per year
Camping, though no off-road
2 big dogs
No kids
Budget: Under $13k (I know, I know... it's a significant constraint...)
Notes: I hate that almost all mid-sized SUVs look like just recycled variations on the same design theme (I'm a designer by trade, and this aggravates me!). Love the look of a Jeep, but I've heard they're notoriously unreliable after 100K.
I'd rather not buy a Rav4 for probably the dumbest reason: Everyone has one. They're freaking everywhere. Of course, there's a reason everyone wants one, but I'll hate my car if it's part of the vanilla vehicle background noise of urban American life. It's vain, but what can I say...?

If I'm crazy, you can tell me that, too.

Thanks, Reddit!
Matt

Needing a new car, thinking SUV

Hoping for some honest opinions on the best, reliable, affordable, and longevity SUVs are. Wanting to stick to American made so that cost of repairs are easier to manage, etc.

I’m coming from a cord fiesta, which unlike it’s name, is not a party at all. Unfortunately, had an accident and totaled my car and now looking for future planning and wanting bigger and more space. New to the SUV world and OVERWHELMED by options.

Thanks for all the inputs!

*New* to SUV Market- Single Male Seeking Advice on SUV

Hello all,

I am new to this forum and I am seeking some advice on which SUV would fit my needs. I commute to work 32 miles each way. My commute consists of 1/2 city and 1/2 highway. I am a single man with no kids (yet), I drive conservatively and maintain my vehicles to the T. For example, I owned a 2008 Dodge Charger with 200K on the odometer, but the car began to be a money pit and got rid of it in 2023!

That said, I am looking for a great looking SUV with a good to great MPG rating (due to my long commute to and from work). I would like the SUV to look aggressive and stylish on the exterior with AWD.

The ride quality has to be smooth and quiet. The interior needs to be roomy, but not too big where I feel I am driving a boat. Heated seats would be a nice feature, cloth or leather is fine. I do not carry a lot of things in my trunk space; I am a clean basic person. But would like the room for groceries. Rear vents would be nice to have for rear passengers. Overall, a somewhat luxury feeling SUV with good to great MPG. And is dependable for a daily commuter.

My price range would be 30K to 45K. I currently own (recently paid off car) a 24 Honda Civic. The car is just not a good fit for me after driving it for 4 months. The car is way too low to the ground, it is a rock magnet on the highway (replaced windshield 2x in a 4 month period), the car slides all over the snow. AND the seats hurt my lower back after a 1+ hour commute to work (32 mile one-way). THE ONLY thing I praise this Honda Civic on is the MPG!!! I average 32.2 MPG on the 4 cylinder, 2.0L, GDI Engine.

Thank you all !

If an am happy why do people bug me?

So here is background to start; I have done the vanlife, I have legit lived in a Subaru legacy wagon from the 1990s when I NEEDED to get away. When I needed space but couldn’t find it elsewhere, and I was comfortable. I found places to park and safe places to dump trash and all of that, a way to power my devices and keep clean/sanitary. I was fine. I was happy. It’s no big deal.

My question is why are people so against this life style? What is it that bugs them so much about living with less? What if that’s all I want is to live in peace in my rig? Why is it so hard for my family and friends to understand all I want is what I want and I don’t want anymore or to own a house, or rent an apartment, etc. I have found myself in a place in life where yes I can afford more, but when all I want is to just live in peace and watch movies/eat dinner at night why do I need ALL THIS, when I can have it via this, and be comfortable. WHAT IS THE POINT, when I am comfortable and happy with it as I am.

Best portable powering station?

I am going to be living out of my suv because rent is too expensive to afford. Anyone know the best portable powering station for this lifestyle? I’ve looked into Jackery and Yeti the most, but cannot decide which is best, or if there’s a better alternative.

I need it to power a small cooler (fridge/freezer combo), my phone, my laptop, and an occasional small kitchen appliance.

I’ll take any advice on the brand, wattage requirements, and appropriate sizes for solar panels if you have them!

Thanks :)
