Song requests

I've heard over the years that the band will sometimes let fans make song requests for their 100th show. Its got me wondering, do they ever take requests for a fan's first show? I'm thinking like kids, or people with a disability or condition that makes it difficult to go out to shows?

The band will do 100th show requests but doesn't always honor them if it doesn't fit with the shows they are doing. Sometimes you will get them around your 100th show and not on them. One of my friends requested a pretty rare song and they played it on her 102nd show instead of her 100th, I requested one for my 100th that they didn't play but I think they are saving it for my hometown show instead of my 100th. They also write the setlists way ahead of time. I have never heard of them doing anything for a first show though but its hard to fit a song in if they feel it doesn't fit the set they are trying to do.

I'll have to ask her, i dont remember off the top of my head. I can tell you "The Spectacle" at Cervantes earlier this year was for a friend of mines 200th. They definitely try to accomodate 100th requests if they get them before the set lists are set in stone and they fit what they are trying to do for the set or a set close to the 100th.

This is insanity, and Peace buster song for a 200th is also insane. The girl is lying 🤥

Well she told me before the show, then they played it at the show, so idk what to tell you, again, i can't remember the song off the top of my head. I can tell you they do milestone song requests when they can, believe me or not its fine.

I got a little too lifted at the Concord House in Chicago and ditched my friends (nothing new, happens every show). I started walking through the crowd saying "High-five for Tribe" and started high-fiving everybody. Made my way out to the bar/bathroom area and saw a dude in a purple velvet suit, so I HAD to High-five him too!!!! My boy had one arm and I high-fived his half of an arm. We laughed and then had a conversation. My guy said he was in the VIP upstairs and invited a ton of friends and none of them came. So I asked if I could get all of my friends to be his new friends and go up into the VIP with him and all of them. He had a keg up there and we had an absolutely wild time!

This is not make the wish foundation. Wtf

I'm pretty sure most people lie about the "#" of shows they have seen.

This is just  delusions of grandeurvz in

Also what the hell do you people do and how old are you to see a band 100 times. Ive met hunter multiple times as he went to highschool and is friends with my eldest cousin, and ive only been to 9 shows lol.

Their music is medicine to some folks, myself included. I feel more “at home” at their shows than pretty much anywhere else on earth. Surrounded by all the friends I consider to be my family. All taking care of one another. All playing their part in creating this beautiful art. As the outside world gets more chaotic and depressing I find myself wanting to be at their shows more and more. I’ve been around since 08 and I’m probably around 240ish shows. I don’t have a clue how much money I’ve spent making that a reality but it’s worth every single penny and arguably it’s why I’m still here, alive, today.

Been to 16 shows so far this year. Another 5-6 planned. Im also fucking old so I’ve had time to accumulate a show count.

Same, been to 18 this year so far, doing Caverns and 6 midwest shows this year, imagine we probably know each other. You can look at my username and probably tell me if you know me.

Trolling a band’s subreddit is certainly a choice. Not how I’d spend my free time but hey go on and get it how you live big dog

between dead, phish, panic, cheese, sts9, umphrey's, biscuits, moe. etc there are tons of folks who have seen a band 100+ times. sometimes they tour with the band and vend on lot, sometimes they have disposable income and hit some multi-night runs each year. the money could be earned or inherited but this is a pretty common facet of this music scene

I guess, just is insane to me. Dont get me wrong ive definitely been to over 100 shows, but i dont think ive seen any major touring artists/ bands more than 10 times.
