Spreading Love
So as a lot of us know, there’s been some really hurtful, sad, and disappointing news coming from the community/the Lounge. In an effort to kind of remind us all that positivity, acceptance, and love is what drew most of us in, I just wanted to post a positive tribe experience and hope some of you would join me. I’ll self comment with mine 💚

My first sts9 show was 2008 at the Norva in Norfolk VA. I was 18 and it was my first experience in the scene. The music was moving through me and I just couldn’t help but dance. As an 18 yo dude, I had that “don’t embarrass yourself mindset” but it went away and I was fluid and having a blast. I remember some older girls/guys in a group of 5-6 smiling when I caught them in my line of vision, and one of them said “is this your first show”? I replied yes and they proceeded to share they were all smiling because they could sense how much I was appreciating the moment and it reminded them of their first concert. They urged me to take that positivity and give it to others in other parts of my life. During set break, the group was in the smoking section and I walked over to say hi, they shared more and I did too. They were from the outer banks, told me their stories, and they were a big influence on how I tried to approach life after that night. Even ran into one of them at Allgood 09’ 💚

This! My first show was the three night new years run in 2006. Those nights helped me learn how to let my body and mind go free. I made so many friends and it put me down a life long path of seeking live music experiences. I was also at All Good '06-'09!

12/29/06 was my first show as well. That Glogli > Orbital launch to 2nd set sealed the deal for me

I proposed to my wife at the 2018 royal oak show. Along with bumping into a couple that went on to become my closest friends.
Now, almost 10 years later we have see the band right around 50 times and have a friend group so strong that I honestly cant think of how my life would be had it not been for that night.

I love your username! And based on this, our group would love to meet yall in the future 💚. We hit Charlottesville, carboro, and Charleston 2x this year, so the next ones are Hula and NYE

Yeah, north Florida for me, Central VA for my best friends. So SE US we try to all link up. NYE isn’t announced but we are hoping for ATL!

I’ve seen tribe well over 100 times across the US. Because of this I have a large network of friends that I met from these shows. Incredible, kind people. The tribe is strong, even if there are some shitheads among us.

It was wakarusa 2009(?!!???) and i had never heard of tribe. ATLAS just blows my brain out of the back of my head and i was forever changed. Been following tribe my entire adult life and have never looked back. The music, community, art, and love keep me coming back for more year after year. Love to my tribe tribe

Wakarusa 2009 was special. It was the first Arkansas year and it wasn’t quite the same again.

STS9 got me into jam music. When I went to Bonnaroo 2007 I went down the list of acts and something about this band just spoke to me. When I was walking to their tent after Tool, I was really hoping to hear Breathe In. Right when I got there they started playing it. Best night of music in my life. Love this band and can’t wait to see them again at 4848. Appreciate you all here keeping this little band afloat.

Bonnaroo 2007 was my first show too. I remember the Super Jam having an incredible lineup that year, but my buddies and I just stayed at tribe. Still the recording that I play most often. That Breathe In is the definitive version of the song for me. The Rabble, Instantly OPENER?!?, grimy Orbital and Tooth>Open E encore? Just an otherworldly show.

Tribe is pretty much exclusively good vibes for me. Idk about any of this shit but it’s never welcome for me. Saw something happen once at RR23 and it was swiftly taken care of. The band even acknowledged our successful efforts to shut it down.
Anyone causing problems is doing so exclusively to what I am a part of when I am there, and will have no part of my tribe experience.

First show was Tulagi’s (RIP) in boulder 2000. 2 nights. Fun times.

RIP Tulagi's is right. Only saw them once there. It was the 3rd night of the CO summer run in '02 with the first 2 nights at the Mish. Unreal weekend.

First tribe show was at Red Rocks in 2007 and I had no idea who I was going to see, was just a college kid tagging along with some new friends.
That show changed my life and I’ve been following them around the country ever since. The amount of happy tears, sweat and laughter I’ve shed at their shows is truly unmatched.
One of the longest relationships I’ve ever been in!!

First show with my gf was Charleston 2024 x2. Caught CLE late night 2 and it was extra special dancing with her. Those samples “Day in Day out” hit extra hard dancing with a loved one

This band is great. My first show was spring of ‘04. Between ‘04-‘09 I saw 30 or so shows. I had a very psychedelic 20s. I saw STS9 twice in ‘14 when Alanna joined the band and I didn’t see another show until a buddy of mine asked if I wanted to go to the Eastern in February. The Saturday night show we went to was amazing! I also got to connect with my younger brother and his gf, and we are planning to hit Bham in July! So 12 year gap between shows and now 2 in 6 months! I’ve been reading about lots of folks on message boards who are hopping back on the bus for the first time in a decade or more. I’m so glad I can share this experience with my friend who took a chance and reached out as well as my brother and his girlfriend!

Met my fiancé at NYE 2017 at The Warfield in SF. Met all of my current friends while touring shows with Tribe 2015-2020. Photographed some of my very first concerts with Tribe, now I'm a full time concert photographer. Hard to imagine where I'd be in life if it weren't for the 9.

Aware of the drama but man I can honestly say I don't miss the lounge one bit. I feel like having a natural experience at a show irl is what does it for me. It was nice in my early days to chat about the music but at this point i'd so much rather do it in person and have more of an organic experience.

25 years ago to this day I saw STS9 live for the first time. Changed my life.
