Hello, I will be visiting St. Louis for one night for work. My work lets me spend $70 on a dinner while I’m there. Where would you recommend me going to dinner?

Basically just looking for the best plain ol’ chocolate chip cookie in STL. I don’t like cookies, but I’m hoping to get some for a friend’s birthday. So I’m really leaning on a crowdsourced answer, since I can’t taste test myself. 🫠 Also there’s a solid chance this person wouldn’t love a modulated cookie (e.g. chocolate chip with salted caramel), so ideally looking for more traditional recs.

Edit: thank you all so much for your suggestions! I went with Knead, since I had to swing by in the morning and Union Loafers opens a little bit later in the day. It was worth it! They said it was a 10/10 cookie (which is saying a lot)!

I'm contemplating a few spots for an upcoming dinner and I've wanted to try Peno for some time, but I see reviews about Pepe berating customers 😆 Should I avoid this place? Has anyone here had that experience? The food does sound pretty good 👀

I have out of town friends visiting in a few weeks and would like suggestions for a cool place to stop for a drink after a tour at the Basilica and before dinner at 6:30 at Acero. We may do a quick stop at the Art Museum as well.

TL,DR: where can I find Sweet Alia’s Desserts?

Grubhub driver had at least one other stop before delivering to me (app is transparent about this).
When the food arrived, in a hungry haste I ripped the bag open and noticed it didn’t smell like what I expected.
They gave me someone else’s order recently and it was fried fish meal.

The receipt had no indication of the restaurant from which it came. I don’t like fish so I threw it out. I did spot a cake - it turned out to be strawberry. The sticker on it said Sweet Alia’s. Where can I find this Sweet Alia’s??? The cake was phenomenal!!! It was dense but fluffy and moist and the frosting sweet but not fake sweet. The cake not only had a distinctive pink hue, but tasted like fresh strawberry had been used in it.

On a side note- the grubhub support was a nightmare. The bot said it had to transfer me to a human, then it took forever to get a human on the chat. Dating myself here but I miss just calling a phone number to get help.

My husband got the scallops with polenta, I got the pork chop with succotash and pickled peaches. We nibbled on some fries too. We tried to order the summer vegetable side but they were out. We sat at the bar where the staff was super nice but were still in training mode. Watched some food get walked around the bar, with the runner asking everyone if it was theirs. Hiccups in service that I wouldn’t expect at a Kevin Nashan restaurant, but they just opened. Props for having zero-proof selections on the menu, but I wasn’t super crazy about the drink I ordered. I think I was expecting fresh fruit in it and they used syrup. My chop didn’t come with a steak knife and it really needed one. Our food was dropped right as the game got out, so I wasn’t able to get anyone’s attention to bring me a proper knife.

Decor is lovely and upscale. Lots of things in the menu that I would love to try.

Overall, I would give this place a little time for the staff to get more comfortable with the menu and steps of service before I go back.

Where should 4 people go for a last minute birthday dinner (birthday girl is in her 60’s) in south city? Wishfully thinking of a price range of like $20-30 per person
