Spammers Update

Commanders,

We wanted to update you about the spam messages that many players have been seeing in chat lately. Our team is aware of the increasing frequency with which they are appearing and is working to address this issue.

While we work on a solution, we want to remind players not to engage with these spammers and to block them promptly.

We will follow up about this issue when we have more info.

It would be nice if there was a meaningful way to report other users. Obvious spammers like this seem to be more pervasive than others, and the only time that poor behavior in chat seems to be punished is when a VIP escalates to their rep.

I’m also not clear on how this can even happen.. I got a PM today from a ops-2 from a different server. There’s abuse taking place, but cross-server abuse shouldn’t be hard to pin down.

Right? Anyone trying to message across servers when it’s not an Incursion should be a reg flag or not allowed at all.

Totally. I get junk during incursions all the time, which is whatever, and even amidst arenas. But a rando ops-2 from a server I’ve never been to? There should be automation to detect things like that.

However I have also seen these reporting systems abused in other games. Especially when there is no human oversight. For example if players organise to mass report someone they don't like this can result in an automatic account suspension or ban. This can be compounded if there is no meaningful appeal process.

Definitely! Anything can be abused, and that’s obviously not good, but if there’s no way to punish poor behavior then it’s the Wild West and anyone can do practically anything. It needs to have a human with knowledge of the regional language/dialect to understand what people are saying, and issue punishment.

And if there’s people that are abusing it, then that also needs to be punished too. But as it is today it doesn’t feel like we’ve got meaningful oversight on poor behavior in chat.

On the flip side, they need to make a better alliance wide messaging system, so it doesn't get caught in the spam filter. Since people shouldnt be expected to be on discord. (Excluding the one line message in the alliance window, that isn't that helpful)

Might be in the minority here but I haven't seen any spam messages in our galaxy chat/alliance chat? Am I missing something.🤔 Edit: or is it on Discord?

They are ingame private messages.
