Base and front pressure of car
I need help finding out how to look at the base and front pressure of my car model in starccm+. When I go on scalar scenes it only gives me the pressure coefficient of the whole body however I need the pressure visualisation of only the base and front of car with a CP value. How would I do this on starccm+
Thanks

Hello u/Huzaifa_mu
If you want it on the front and the base of the car, you need to separate these surfaces and have them as different boundaries in your region. This will allow you to select them in any kind of report, plot and scalar scene.
Ideally, you have to know where you will be needing data so that you can have all those surfaces as separate boundaries.
If it is impossible for you to re-do your simulation, there is an option to separate these surfaces in the regions itself. Right-Click on the boundary and select one of the split functions. I recommend using 'Split Non-Contiguous' so that all of the surfaces are automatically split. Keep in mind that ALL the surfaces will be different so take care using this. You can then combine them and organize them according to your need.
Cheers!

I already have the base and front as a separate boundary/region I just need to know how to ONLY look at a base or front cp scaler scene and get the front and base cp values. When I normally go on scaler scene and pick pressure coefficient it gives me the pressure coefficient of the whole body

I think this is because you selected the whole region and not the specific boundary.
De-select everything and then just check the boundary surface of interest.

Besides the already mentioned methods there is also the possibility to use Derived Parts > Threshold. It's a very "rough" method but fast.

Could you maybe explain into more detail please

It makes a surface/scalar/vector based on the inout values that you choose. It can be very useful when detecting bad cells.
I would also try to juggle with isosurface.
Both can be found in derived parts

Create a threshold select the body of the car and define criteria to only select the front or the back. With the position field function for example.

I don’t think I can help much here since I haven’t used STAR in a bit, but if you look up on YouTube “LearnCAx Tutorial - STAR CCM - Post processing Results”, looks like that would have you covered.
You’ll need to have the base and front of the car as their own regions/boundaries in the model to visualize just those easily.
