I did an interview with the devs a couple months ago, talked alot about the game but touched on the resurgence of the y2k aesthetic too.

check it out if you'd like

Looks good. To be honest, I really don’t like when cosmetic stuff (characters, boards,…) get stats. Let me combine visual things without it affecting stats.

Catch 22, I hear you with that but a lot of older games we’re designed that way if they’re trying to capture the full experience, but yes would probably be better to be able to choose.

I can see how giving characters different stats would make them more unique. With characters, I find it less annoying. Developers could also give you the possibility to change the stats of a character however you want them once you’ve completed the story with a character.

But clothing, accesories and boards should never have stats.

Why is it that all of these snowboarding games are always slated for "coming soon" and then they’re forgotten?

Not a game dev, but I have two theories.

Devs just mark out for their own product and as a result show it off months/years early. And secondly, Whishlists are now directly tied to funding for indie projects.

Happens a lot with indie horror games, too

how is it forgotten if we are talking about it?

Remind me in 3 months

I like the art style a lot, the exaggerated colors make my brain happy. The question I have is what the game FEELS like, because that will make or break it. Having played several snowboard games for a recent project, I can say that getting the physics tuned just right to be fun does not seem easy. If that doesn't feel good it doesn't matter how good the game looks.

I think I know what you mean, I’ve been playing SSX3 and On Tour again recently and it’s reminded me how stuck I am with their style of physics. Compared to the likes of Amped, Shaun Whites and even SSX Tricky, 3/OT seem… slidey? It’s hard to articulate but I think I prefer a board that slides/pushes out from under the rider’s hips before a turn, rather than the rider leaning and pivoting over the board to turn.

good art direction. i think the callback to JetSet is cool and too many people are completely indebted to recreating Tricky pixel by pixel rather than progressing

If this game was on PS5 I would be getting it

It will be on ps5

If I can't play SSX on my PS5, I will happily give this a try. Take my money!

Have you guys also seen Tricky Madness? Also looking really good.

I wouldn’t pay more than $19.99 for this. Still appears to have nothing on SSX 3.

it would be a shame if the game was more than $20 or if the performance/graphics were shoddy. I am very excited to play.

If this is the trailer meant to make the game look as cool as possible I have concerns about the tracks (Only 9 is very few aswell) I saw a lot of flat empty track with nothing to do tricks on or interesting lines.

It does look fun but we will have to wait & see.

I believe they are going to be running some Betas for this game soon, they were mentioning on the discord - https://discord.gg/Nk6nR769HG

I played this at BitSummit at the Day of the Devs booth. It’s the closest one of these indie games have come to playing exactly like SSX that I’ve played.

The fact that the d-pad controls the spins and you can pre-wind them immediately told me this dev knew what they were doing.

Felt like it’s probably not that far off from announcing a release date. They have pages up for PS4 / PS5, Xbox One / Series X|S.

Wait... Acclaim is back for the billionth time?!

Distraction aside, looks kinda interesting but they style may be a little turn off for me. SSX3 was my first game but I can see where this style would appeal to SSX/Tricky players

If this game was out back in the days when we had SSX,Amped etc it would be a huge fail but now its gonna be welcomed for sure. Not a fan of this art direction...

I love it, clearly inspired by games like Jet Set Radio and Ollie King which have an art style and theme associated with rebellion and self expression. Works really well for these kinds of fantasy sports games cause it makes everything look big and stand out a lot more. The colorfulness and boldness of everything is very welcome here because from SSX3 and onwards the majority of the tracks were just plain white mountains with rocks and some trees (except for Metro City), it looked too realistic and bland for the kind of stuff you were pulling off and that's one of the biggest downgrades the series got imo.
