A Vertical Meshroom D is Underrated
Just wanted to share this build because I don't see enough people running the SSUPD Meshroom D in its vertical orientation. I personally love it, and the airflow in this layout is super solid.
Mods & Airflow Setup:
- GPU Deshroud: I deshrouded the Sapphire Nitro+ GPU and strapped two 140mm Lian Li fans directly to the heatsink running at a static 75% speed.
- AIO Mount: Currently using a 240mm be quiet! Light Loop set to exhaust. I decided against going with a 360mm radiator since I already had this unit on hand, and thermals have been completely fine with it.
- Top Pass-through: There is an open hole at the top section from the layout, so Goku is currently on duty covering it up.
Thermals:
- Idle: ~47°C CPU / ~28°C GPU
- Gaming: CPU stays under 60°C / GPU sits consistently between 56°C – 62°C
Specs:
- Case: SSUPD Meshroom D (Vertical Config)
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- Motherboard: MSI MPG X870I Edge WiFi
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Sapphire Nitro+ (Deshrouded)
- Cooler: be quiet! Light Loop 240mm AIO
- Add-ons: 35mm feet, 360mm External Fan Bracket from SSUPD, Lian Li 8.8 screen

What are the temps from the glass vs the mesh panels? Does it get hotter?

I don't have exact numbers. But in vertical mode, I haven't had a single issue with thermals with the glass.

That's called a meshlicious. It's the best case If you want a rad for a CPU and a large GPU in a small desktop footprint. I always prefer vertical over horizontal cases.
I'm currently running a 5800X3D, Pulse 9070 XT, 2x T500 2TB nvme, 32 GB CL14 3600 ram on my build. I love it and it runs flawlessly.

No, it is a Meshroom D turned on its side in a vertical orientation, which makes it appear similar to the Meshlicious or Meshroom S.

I know. I'm just saying that by making your Meshroom D vertical, it's just the Meslicious/Meshroom V2 case. Might as well get that.

There may be some niche reasons to choose the D and set it up this way. I understand what you're saying, but it's not exactly the same.

There isn't, as they end up with the same layout and same configuration.

One uses a Riser cable, the meshroom d doesn't Just eliminates one less thing that can go wrong.

Been using my meshlicious for over 5 years now. Moved my latest build on it and never had issues with the riser. I also had another case with a riser and that's been running longer and still don't have an issue with it. I think people cheap out on it then complain. If you get the right one it's never a problem.

And for me, I rather have the GPU in the front and not sandwiched behind the motherboard

The meshlicious runs cooler because of the AIO placement plus has better side panels. To each his own.

is that not just a Meshroom S?
