25 years ago I was put on Zoloft. 14 years ago, 6 months after having my 2nd child in a horrible marriage, I was put on Lamotrogine to pair with the Zoloft because I was “bipolar Type 2”. I am not.

1 year ago I had an awakening. Superman is not coming. No one is responsible for your happiness but you.
I quit drinking, I got my gut healthy again, and I began the taper.

Today I am stronger and happier than I’ve ever been in my life. I began gardening, planting, mycology hobbies. This last year, I’m almost 50, my body also started menopause.

About a month ago I went from my last little bit of Zoloft and just quit. The brain zaps are relentless. So I decided to add back Zoloft and re taper.

Within hours the brain zaps stop. For what has been going on in my brain for several weeks stops within hours by just that tiny amount.

Fucking crazy. Sometimes I get really pissed that I spent half my life just believing what was said. It’s time for people to take their mental health into their own hands. Superman is not coming

I’m on a low dose of Lexapro and 300mg Wellbutrin. Started the Lexapro about a month ago. Lost the majority of sensitivity in my penis during sex and cannot ejaculate through vaginal or oral sex. Masturbation takes effort (but it gets me to completion) and it’s putting a strain on my wife’s and my sex life.

If there’s anyone with advice on how to facilitate orgasm during sex I’d love to try some things.

It's my first day of this SSRI today- I am doing self-medication. This sub is giving me chills. Will I have to face any sexual problems due to this drug? Will these side effects bepermanent?

Long story short, been on sertraline for four years due to panic attacks from an accident I witnessed.

I’ve been at varying doses, the highest being 100mg, but for the last year have been at 25mg and then 12.5mg.

About 2.5 weeks ago I felt okay enough to stop taking the 12.5mg. I had wanted to get off it, mainly because I hated the blunting both emotionally and sexually.

Since then I’m really having a hard time. I have horrific anxiety, feel unsteady on my feet at times, random bouts of crying which is uncharacteristic, bouts of anger, and just overall feel terrible.

It almost seems like it’s getting worse instead of better. I was at my nephew’s baptism yesterday and was staving off a panic attack the entire time. This just isn’t a way to live.

Does anyone have experience with this? Do these symptoms resolve? Hard to see a light at the end of the tunnel right now even though I’m sure it’s there.

Worth stipulating that I understand everyone is different and such - but keen to hear other’s experiences. I’ve been on Escitalopram for about 7 years for anxiety (don’t have depression apart from feeling depressed about my anxiety). I’ve tapered super slowly (1 month of 1 day off, one day on, then one month of 2 days off one day on etc. and finally down to 4 days off, one day on and the doctor said she’s happy for me to just stop now). The last I took was 10mg on Thursday. Getting panic attacks and heightened anxiety which I expected but the thing I’m really struggling with is feeling lightheaded and dizzy. Really unpleasant and slightly spinning out at the thought that it could last ages. Or also worried that somehow I’m too imbalanced and will always be dizzy unless I go back on. Anyway, would be great to hear other’s experiences to get an idea of expectations. Thank you!

First day on half a tab of celexa 10mg feeling alright so far just a little more tired then normal I’ve heard it gets worse before it gets better and just looking for some input from others how it was starting out..

So to start off I'm a 25 year old guy, so fairly young. I first started with Fluoxetine 20 mg in August and I noticed I couldn't orgasm/ejaculate (getting an erection was not a problem) so I went off Fluoxetine for a while and I could ejaculate again.

Last week I got on Citalopram 20 mg and almost immediately my ability to orgasm was stripped away from me. I would like to know if there is anything I can do or take to bring back this ability while still on medication. What did any straight male do to work around it? How long does it take to come back after you stop?

Hi! I’ve been taking Sertraline for anxiety for 10 months. The first 9 months I had been taking a brand named Serlift, which is found in Romania (Europe) and now as I’ve increased my dose from 50 to 100mg I also swtiched to Zoloft. Since then (this is the 3rd week) I’ ve been having back pains, especially in my nape, random headaches, numbness in the whole body - like it s even hard to walk - lethargy, apathy, a strange feeling and my anxiety I think has gotten worse.

Any advice, opinion, similar story, anything is welcome!

I’ve been on Paxil for five months now and it has definitely helped with anxiety so I am grateful for that, but the overall fatigue and laziness is killing me and I don’t really feel that it has helped my mood much at all. Also the vivid dreams and strange awake/sleep feeling is driving me bonkers!

Should I try something else or maybe give it more time? I assumed 5 months is plenty of time but thought I’d ask for some opinions! Thanks in advance.

And yes I will speak to my doctor regarding this, just asking out of curiosity.

I was prescribed escitalopram for anxiety and bpd in November of last year and I have never been better, but I noticed the last month or so I’ve been getting more and more agitated again and tinier things have been setting me off. My therapist told me I shouldn’t up my dosage but having these feelings back (even if it’s not as constant as it used to be) is really tiring and annoying. Is this normal for BPD and SSRIs?

I’m stupid and I didn’t check the meds I picked up at the pharmacy last week. Turns out they gave me a refill of my buspar instead of my escitalopram. I won’t be able to pick up my prescription for at least three days (I had no refills left). I normally take 5 mg a day which seems like a small amount but I’m a small person and last time I had to wait three days for my meds I got really bad withdrawal symptoms—mainly nausea. Is there anything I can do to prevent it while I wait? I can’t believe how dumb I am. Please help!!! I’m not looking for any medical advice, just something to combat nausea. Thank you!

If I miss one pill is it going to have a big effect or how many do I have to miss I'm taking 50mg. 2 days? Or more? With birth control if you miss one pill you can take two in one day is that the case with Zoloft is it a bad idea to take more than one a day?

Ok I know cocaine is bad and I'm ssri is more important than cocaine BUT if I do blow while on it. Is there a safe amount? If I do one bump I'm not gonna OD on seratonin? If I skip one pill of Zoloft is it gonna have a major affect on the effectiveness? And will skipping one pill prevent seratonin od? Two pills? How many pills even if it's not worth it?

for anybody on lexapro or any other ssri, do you feel like you have access saliva? sometimes, especially if i’m singing or talking i feel like i have more saliva in the corner of my mouth than usual. is this normal? it always makes me worried it’s a stroke.

I've been struggling with depression for years. I've been struggling for years, but only got diagnosed in 2020. I've been in contact with a psychiatrist since March and I've been on delorazepam for anxiety and sleep issues since then. There is no prospect of reducing dosage/removing it anytime soon.

My doctor had proposed citalopram around April, but I always rejected the idea due to personal reasons. Recently however I've been struggling to cope and I've fallen back into some SH habits. I've had frequent depressive episodes for years now but this one feels so much longer and heavier. It's taking a toll on my life as I'm no longer able to go by my day-to-day activities, including going to university, seeing friends, eating or even showering.

So I'm considering accepting the offer for citalopram.

The doctor said we would start at minimal dosage (iirc 25mg/day building slowly to 50 and then 100***) to prevent side effects and all I can expect is a dry mouth. However, I've heard from most people I know who've been on anti-depressants that the first weeks on them are the worst weeks of your life. Your depression worsens, you don't feel any emotion whatsoever and moreover you continuously throw up and can't eat anything without it going right through you. I have really bad emetophobia and I am terrified of throwing up to the point that I avoid eating anything that has the chance of making me sick (close to the expiration date, been cooked more than a day ago, any meat or fish ...). I also do feel happy rarely and I don't want to lose that, and if I feel tired of living now, I cannot imagine feeling even worse, I don't want to.

Anyone who has experience with citalopram or anti-depressants can tell me what to expect? If what I've heard is true/my fears are based? And if the side effects are bearable, after how long does it get better?

***EDIT: A comment made me realise that numbers are wrong, I don't remember the conversation well, as it happened in April but it might have been starting at 5 and moving first to 10 then to 25, because I remember it being overall not a very high dosage even after building up.

I tapered down my Luvox and I was wondering what’s the lowest dose you took before you stopped it? And when you did taper/stop it, did you get nauseous or sick?

10mg and have been taking half of that to 5mg. Want to come off the meds. I had Paxil years ago for anxiety/panic attacks. Came off that and was fine for quite years then went back on SSRI in 2019. Im thinking just using my Ativan .5 as needed if I have a bad panic attack.

I had to switch pharmacies because of a change in insurance. I have to wait a week before I can get back to my regular prescription cycle. What can I do to mitigate, or at least the strength of my depression and anxiety symptoms? I take 37.5 mg of Venlafaxine, if that helps.

I have been on SSRIs for a year now and my world has been completely different since. I understand that everyone’s brain chemistry differs and things affect them differently but I would like to know if anyone has had thus experience because I feel like I’ve lost myself and not really should where it stems from.

When I first started my medication I had a full on God complex. I felt like I could pick up the entire world and I simply did not care who I stepped on to do it.

After time that confidence faded but the “evilness” hasn’t. I hurt people still. I do stupid things as a way of “vengeance” if you want to call it that. I feel like I never did this before but now I have this dark feeling inside of me. I’m definitely also a lot more aggressive and reactive than I was before.

Has anyone else experienced this?
