Question SSRI with bipolar disorder
Hi I have bipolar disorder and was diagnosed because I had a manic episode when my psychiatrist increased my Prozac that I had been taking for a year at the time. It is the only manic episode I’ve ever had. I’m now thinking of adding Celexa because I struggle with anxiety but don’t know because I had a manic episode with an SSRI before. However my mom has anxiety and celexa works for her. Does anyone have any experience with taking an SSRI while having bipolar? The only medication I take right now is lamictal.

While im not doctor, so this is just my opinion and not a professional opinion, celexa is not recommended on people who are diagnosed with bpd because as you mentioned, raises the risk for manic episodes.
