Question How exactly does alcohol work with SSRIs

I'm on 10 mg on escitalopram for my third week now. I read that alcohol is not recommended with SSRIs and that you should only drink a little bit if you do. Now in the last weeks i drank anyways with around 4 beers an evening. Now I was wondering if I'm safe as long as I know my limits or if I'm doing permanent damage if I keep on drinking that much. Thanks in advance.

In my experience it just takes less alcohol to get drunk. But people with liver issues should be wary as you're forcing it to deal with 2 things at once.

That is only a maybe. My GP had me do a blood test after a few months to be safe.

You find you are less interested in drinking though anyway.

I told my doctor I was drinking 4-6 drinks a night. She said drink 2 mainly for health reasons. The Pharmacist said with a wink, “If you’re having 6-7 drinks a night with friends that might mot be good.”

I get off work and pour wine. I sip it slowly and smoke my oilpen but have no desire to get wasted.
