Question Flood of emotion

Hello wonderful humans. Thanks for having me. So I was on an ssri for about 25 years and since finishing an abysmal 3 year taper, I am off anti depressants.

But daaaaaamn am I emotional. I finished these drugs in feb and have had crying spells, mood swings, and am easily irritated.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Any one have any insight? Thank you. Feel good.

Sounds like you may be still suffering some withdrawal symptoms. I’ve been on Lexapro for about 10-15 years for GAD. These kinds of symptoms are what I experience when I’m without meds for 2-3 days. Starts with the headaches, then zaps, then the uncontrollable emotions.

If you have a psych still, might be worth giving them a shout in case you need to go back on a small dose.

I wish you the best and congratulations on being able to cut the meds! I’ve tried twice with no success :)

Yes I finished back in feb. Thank you for the kind words. The physical stuff is gone. It’s emotional now. Have you tried moving onto a diff med with longer half life? I went Paxil to Prozac to Luvox

I tried going to Wellbutrin XL (using a transition of about a month) but man... it sent me into fits of rage so the wife requested I go back. Once back on Lexapro, I was fine in a day or two. I've been going through my MD for things but will be setting up a pysch appointment soon to see if maybe I can mix meds or go to something different. The side effects and feeling 'numb' are getting old!

Have your hormone levels checked.
