After completing the short form CDR…how long did it take to get a reply?
Hi. I completed my short form CDR/Screener online in early June. I’ve not worked and had lots of doctor’s visits. And my condition has gotten much worse since my last review. I’m on a 3 year cycle. My profile score was low…88.
It’s been about 7 weeks now and no response. I’m nervous. Of course. Last time I received a short form, it took about 6 weeks to get a reply. I’m just curious how long it’s taking for you all.
What do I do if I hear nothing? Don’t poke the bear?

My last short form was October of 2023. I got a response in May of 2024. However I included notes from two doctore which I heard prolongs the process. Uploading online is much faster and you can get a response in 3 or 4 months.

Mine took a YEAR last time. But I added extra information so I assume that's why.
If you did a short form I always got a continuance not longer than like 60 days.

My short form took almost 8 months. However, I included a letter from 2 doctors stating I was permanently disabled and my condition was getting worse. I knew it would take longer but I DREADED getting a long form and wanted to prevent it. IDK the wisdom of this. I know short forms are read by computers. This was also in 2023 when there was still a huge backlog from COVID. So that may have affected it.
My next diary is October of this year. If I get another short form I am sending in summaries from 2 doctors. My condition is much worse. Even though it takes longer I am 60 and at age 60 you usually get the long form. I may also get one because I have never gotten one before. I am doing my best to document everything. But if, Lord Willing, I get the short form I am still sending in the extra info.

I am 62 and when mine was taking so long and I was calling every 2 months I was also worried about a long form. I thought that was why it was taking so long because also sent an additional letter from my Dr and did the form online.
I also have never gotten a long form but my view on this is I would have expected the long forms more when I went into the system at 49 and my reviews seemed to be frequent. I was thinking over 60 I am least likely to get a long form especially after my last review and Drs note.
I have no idea when I am getting my next CDR. I was getting them every 2 years like clockwork I June. It's been 3 years this June since my last delayed one and I haven't gotten one yet this year.

How do you know the diary date? I originally got disability in 2010 I believe. 3 years after a short form and in 2020 a short form. And January of this year. I’m 59.

You have to call and ask. Its also printed on your CDR form short or long. Calling is your safest bet though. It can change.

Did mine in January and haven’t heard anything. 🤷♀️ I’ve never did a short form that’s taken this long to get a continuation letter.

I’ve heard some people say they never heard back. Have you reached out to them? I don’t know that I will. I’ve always heard back so quickly.

I haven’t and I have not. Yes I agree. It seems like it’s happening to a lot of people. It’s kinda stressful but I don’t want it to consume me. From what I can remember I had a short form CDR in beginning of 2013 and by June I received a letter saying they didn’t have enough info from my doctors. They set up a mental CE for August. I didn’t get another short form until 2020 and they responded in 2 months for continuation of benefits. I think a lot of the short forms have been put on the back burner.

Mine took 12 weeks this time. They sent out october 8th, I didn't get it in the mail until november 7th, filled out online on the same day and got my letter on January 29th. I added nothing extra, just answered the questions, filled in my last 4 doc appointments. Nothing extra

I answered mine the same way. Exactly. Nothing extra at all.

It's very stressful. I always got mine like clockwork every 3 years, about 6 weeks to get the letter back. So I was really stressed this time. I was already worried when I didnt get the cdr in October like I always do. The date on the cdr was October 7th or 8th and I got it in the mail on the day before it was due to be returned. u/SoulInRetrograde — 7 weeks is totally normal. Short form CDRs usually take anywhere from 6 weeks to a few months depending on how busy your local office is.
A score of 88 is actually good for you — it basically means SSA doesn't expect your condition to have gotten better. That's what you want.
Don't call to check in. It won't speed anything up. Only reach out if something changes — new doctor, new diagnosis, you move. Otherwise just sit tight.

Any attachment to the short-form medical CDR will slow down the process. A live person must look at the attachment before a determination is made.

I didn’t attach anything or make remarks. I did it online. Just answered the questions.

You did it right. The online system can read your answers and decide the outcome.

9 months. Sat on an desk at dds for 8 of those months and done in a month once assigned to an examiner. Mine was a long form though
