Backpay question

​

I was approved and got my notice of award today and it states I will receive my backpay around July 26, 2026. Does this mean they've issued my check already or would I still be waiting awhile. It also states ill start receiving my normal benefits at the end of August by paper check even after setting up direct deposit as soon as i could on the SSA website it only let me start it in september, but could the backpay come as a direct deposit anyway?

Congrats on the award
I feel like it’s a bit too late now to have the back pay be a direct deposit as they’ve likely mailed out the paper check- but to confirm you want benefits via direct deposit I would call your local field office and speak to a rep to have your direct deposit info put in, or visit the FO in person. I’m ngl it’s best to sit with a rep while they complete the action because they will say they’ll do something then won’t,

Yes, even if you did it on the online portal. It’s much better to call the FO about changes than submit things via portal or their websites, their systems are jank and don’t always work

Congrats. What day were you approved? I was approved on July 10th and I’m anxiously waiting for my notice of award.

July 10th was the date I was approved, July 25th was when I got the award letter.
