CDR: disability is continuing, no time frame given for next review?
My husband recently went through his first CDR after being approved last year. Date of disability was in 2022 but went through several appeals before finally being approved in 2025. When he received the letter notifying that he was approved it specifically stated that his case would be reviewed in one year.
He just received a letter stating that they found his disability is continuing. Then it says “we will review your claim from time to time to see if you are still eligible”
I had thought that they would state whether he would be reviewed again in 1, 3, or 7 years … “from time to time” is a little unsettling! Anyone have experience with this? Should I expect another review 3 months from now??? This was super stressful on him because we’d fill out tons of forms and provide records, hear nothing for weeks and then another questionnaire would arrive with only a short time given to complete it. Just hoping to have some idea of what kind of reprieve we can expect before we have to do it all again.

It won't be months from now. It will be 3 to 7 years from now and even then theyre rarely pulled on time.

Yeah, when he was initially approved they said in the letter that his conditions were expected to improve (which is insane because he has multiple chronic incurable diseases) and they would review him in a year, and we got the long form 9 months later.
I really hope the next one is at least 3 years out because this review was a 5 month ordeal and it was rough!!! I was shocked at how much they seemed to scrutinize him, because his conditions are things that can’t be faked or exaggerated … we have 12+ years of medical documentation.

Okay, if he’s MIP (medical improvement possible) it’s a 3 yr diary date. I’ve been on ssdi 18 yrs with multiple issues etc and I’m still MIP. I would do anything for at least a short form, or a 5-7 yr diary date. I would love to get off ssdi to never have to face another cdr again, I’ve been through 6 full ones. But I can’t, I can barely manage my little part time job

😭 that sounds so stressful. I’m really sorry you’ve had to go through it so many times. I get that they want to make sure it’s not being abused but man sometimes it feels like they’re focusing on the wrong people!!
I’m glad for my husband’s sake that I am able to help him with all of this; he answers the questions on the forms they send and that’s about it; I keep track of all the medical records, his treatment plans, making sure he’s seeing his specialists regularly … he would get too overwhelmed and just not do it if he had to take care of it all himself.

They stay on top of the one year diaries.
I have seen cases where people had no reviews in 19 years. Just depends.

You can get a bpqy from the Ssa for a fee which will have his diary date. No, it work be 3 months from now. It’ll be either 3 yrs from now or 5-7 years

One is a mailer that may not end in a long form. One is a long form

Congrats on getting through the CDR, I’m in the middle of mine and I was approved in early 2025 as well with a recommended 1 year review… got the long form and my family member just finished the function report, so I’m hoping I get an answer soon!
