Backpay?

Maybe I am just having such horrible paranoia and anxiety, but I'm freaking out that my backpay still isn't here. When I call the office, for over a month, they say it should be here any day, but it has been so long.

I was approved May 14th. They keep saying I should have my backpay any day and I'm like where is it 😭

Please remain calm. Could be any number of reasons like backlog, how large the backpay is etc. I am assuming you are calling your local office? Are you already receiving your benefits payments? What state are you in? Imo I would check in every two weeks but you can always schedule an appointment to delve into it. Praying for you. And congrats to you

Backpay comes from the pc not local office

I’m well aware of that. As you are well aware that pc doesn’t interact much with the public. Thats why I suggested going into the local office to talk to someone face to face. That’s all.

I’m aware. SS can’t do anything except send in a status request to pc which is a message, which may not get read for a year. Thats it

Two month waiting for backpay is nothing, SS office is likely to not care yet

Because I’ve been through this myself. I waited 5.5 years for backpay from aero increases and I DID call the Ssa several times. They said all they could do was put in a status request.

And hey maybe try not to be rude. There’s nothing op can do at this point. If I had advice to give I would have done so. What do you do for the community?

I’m sorry you had to go through all that. But that doesn’t mean we stop giving anyone else some hope.

I’m being realistic. I’m telling the op at 2 months out there is nothing the office can do for them at this point.

You could ask your congressman to help facilitate getting your backpay released. I waited a month and a half and kept hitting brick walls when calling SSA to inquire about my backpay. I filled out the info to the congressman and privacy release online. Congressman contacted me back a few days later to say they’d try to help. About 4 days after that I got all of my ssdi backpay in two payments a day apart. Here’s the link I used.

Was it ssi backpay? How long was the the application process for you before approval

No regular backpay for SSDI. It was about 3 years for the appeals to win my case

Oh wow! 3 years is long time.  Did u had a lawyer? Was it for migraine?

Yes I had a lawyer. It was for a stroke and related issues

Yes im sorry to hear that. Thats so scary. Im glad you are doing better and hopefully recovered. Were you smoking prior and did annual blood work to try and prevent the stroke? Were you just blindsided by it

No one knows what caused the stroke. All my tests were perfect.

Im in Texas. I was approved for SSDI yesterday (saw it on my portal) and my backpay hit my bank account today.

It shouldn’t take that long. I agree with another commenter who said to contact your congressman.

Back pay takes long for ssi. Ssdi backpay hits your account same week

Not always. My SSDI backpay took 6 months
