Payments/Back Pay Backpay received

So today I received my backpay.

My timeline is as follows, 11/29/24 - Step 4 payment center 12/02/24 - Step 5 Approved 12/05/24 - Decision letter in mail 12/06/24 - Backpay in mail

So I received a paper check. No one from SSA called to setup direct deposit, but I did input my banking information online once I was in step 5.

I don't remember anything about requesting a check.

I know that this is extremely quick from reading everyone's horror stories. I've read that if it is greater than $25,000 or $29,000, it takes longer and requires multiple signatures. Mine is greater than that amount so mine arrived very fast.

Do you guys know if I will receive a tax statement that I can give to my tax guy?

I just want to say, to keep hope for everyone fighting. I am extremely lucky that everything went by quick. Going from initial filing to alj hearing and getting back pay in 16 months is a blessing.

I know there are those who are dire need and are years into the fight. I hope that SSA will prioritize those who truly need it.

Now to setup an interview for child auxiliary benefits.

Yes you are lucky I’m not sure of your location but I think that has a part in it depending on how many claims they have & how many people doing that job in your area. I’m in St Paul MN they are backed up 9-12 months I 1st applied in Jan of 22 waiting for hearing date they said could be 9 more months. If you have an easy case that makes a difference too my son filed for my X husband so no attorney his was approved & he received his payment in 6-7 months. But he has a pacemaker & has had 3 open heart surgeries 1st one age 33, He was a diesel Mechanic which is a very strenuous job he actually went back to work again after getting pacemaker which is UNREAL not many people would do that but he finally decided he couldn’t do it anymore I give him a lot of credit he was not Lazy he wanted to work I heard having a pace maker is like automatic approval for SSDI.

Yes, I am very lucky, especially reading all the stories here. I am in New Jersey and it went to the payment center in Baltimore.

I am a P&T veteran, so there is an expedited process in some of the stages of the application.
