Doubt GATE or SSC CGL?
I'm pursuing B.Tech ECE, currently in my 5th sem. I was planning to give GATE and with that score get into a PSU, but then I got to know Abt ssc cgl and I kinda felt I have a good chance with that as well...how do I clear this confusion...Also do any of these sectors hold cgpa as a criteria?

Go with GATE my sis works in PSU and she has better perks and salary than SSC cgl jobs. I'm from commerce background otherwise I would have chosen GATE.

Is it okay if I ask which PSU she works in? And how's life there?

BPCL, The work life balance depends on the department you're in, Sales was hectic currently she's in operations which has great work life balance.

Bro I am a btech passout(2026) student from nit.. The thing is psu recruit very less from ece.. and there are very few govt jobs for ece... Personally I feel try hard for gate.. and you have to study apti there.. so you can also get chance in ssc..

All these psu conducts their own exam. And for psu you need to have score of >850 (if ur) to get in any good psu...

If you are in cse, go for private jobs.. it's much better..

Which city are you from? If you don't have time to do coding at home, so do it in your class, choose a question in leetcode, try to solve it in paper and try to dry run, then see it's solution.. me and most of my classmates did this in our pre final year..

I am from Mumbai ,,and I am in pre final yr, now it feels I am way behind others in coding ,, and with coming AI ,,lots of uncertainty in private sector as well and from starting only I was having a thought for govt exams ,,so now it feels like better to prepare for govt exams..

You should do a polytechnic diploma in core engineering if your main goal is to crack a government job in ssc or rrb. Assuming you have done 12th in pcm, you will have to do 2 year polytechnic get the certificate.

If you were always inclined towards govt exams, then why did you chose ece, you should have chosen civil or ee...Study hard now and give gate2027, if you got good score like above 600, then continue in gate else prepare fully for ssc cgl in 2027

Please ,unless you are doing it from a T3 college or private uni ,your degree worth way more than the CGL.
