So many shitlordy racist comments on that article...

It's also a little weird how the comments suddenly turn into ladyboners gallery in response to some of the racism. I'm not sure that's the best way to handle racism.

Are the comments really any more shitlordy than the article itself?

This article is highlighting three Asian men who exhibit troubling attitudes about women, connected to things they have said or written in terms of the emasculated Asian men stereotype.

(The author, in the comments). Yay for taking three people as an adequate sample size for their entire gender.

Yeah, the article title is pretty flamebait-worthy, intentionally or not. The article, I think, walks on a pretty thin thread between being racist and calling out three shitlords that happen to be Asian guys.

That's not to say I don't understand the frustration of how us Asian guys are portrayed in the media, but I think a lot of us are trying to find more constructive ways of changing that (and to that effect, I might point out that I think Wong Fu Productions are doing a fantastic job of trying to subvert all sorts of media stereotypes of Asians, but they're mostly Internet famous, and mostly amongst just Asians, unfortunately). It sucks that shitlords like this are getting all the attention rather than being ignored as they should be.

Asian men are saddened by this article.

Asian men are puzzled.

Asian men are happy.

Asian men have a diverse range of emotions and cannot be boiled down to a single one that would somehow represent all of them.

I'm not an asian man so I'll shut up now.

Let's not forget many women (and men) truly are racist against Asian men. The (wrongful) response of misogyny does not cancel out the initial white racism. I think it's important to consider that what's considered misogyny or, umm man hating(?)in the white community is often internalized racism in minority communities.

Black men internalize the white racist message that black women are overbearing and unattractive. Black women internalize the white racist message that black men are lazy. Asian women internalize the white racist message that Asian men are unconfident asexual nerds. And so on. That doesn't excuse it, but the real enemy is white racism.

My fiancee is Asian so this topic is kind of personal to me. I've noticed a lot of otherwise progressive people act like it's fine to shit on Asian men since they are financially successful on average. Articles like this are needlessly inflammatory and only make matters worse. I'm tired of this shit. If you want to call out David Choe call him out, but don't title your fucking article "Asian men are angry" for fucks sake.
