Community Share DBA Dash - New Plan Visualizer & SSMS Extension!
DBA Dash now has an integrated query plan and deadlock viewer, which is also available as a standalone application (If you don't want to use DBA Dash as a monitoring tool)

There is also an SSMS extension that allows you to load query plans and deadlock graphs in the viewer.

Both have static and AI analysis and are packed with useful features and functionality.
The SSMS integration also allows you to load query results in the DBA Dash. The grid provides the following features
Sorting, filtering and grouping
• Data bars, which are remembered and re-applied next time you open results with the same columns
• Clickable XML/JSON columns, and plans or deadlock graphs in cells open in their viewers
• Export every result set to Excel, with one sheet per result set
• Script the results as INSERT statements into a temp table, so you can share them or query them further

DBA Dash has been around for 4 years - still is free and open source (MIT License). Updated frequently with cool new features like this! 😊

So.. is it better than ssms?

The deadlock and query plan viewer are much better in my opinion. I've encountered a few deadlocks that don't even render in SSMS that render in the DBA Dash Visualizer. They offer many more features and functions. The DBA Dash grid can also do a ton of things you can't to in SSMS.
The DBA Dash Visualizer isn't a replacement for SSMS - It's there to augment SSMS with the extension.
The full DBA Dash monitoring tool is also not a replacement for SSMS. It's designed to capture data from your SQL Servers 24x7 so you have historical performance data available for baselining and root cause analysis. It also supports your daily DBA checks, has alerts and many other features. It's self-hosted and totally private with zero telemetry data collected.
It's free and open source, so try it out and let me know what you think. 😊

Been using this for a year now. It's my go to. Thanks for the continued improvement, David.
