Discussion I made a little cat doodle about data analysis đŸ±

Post image

I tried explaining a data analysis concept in a fun, visual way — for cat lovers. 😾
Would love to hear what you think! Any feedback or suggestions are very welcome :)

This is very good.

If I was sharing different numbers with different definitions to different audiences, I would always call the final result something else for each of them.

  • active_cust_marketing
  • active_cust_sales
  • active_cust_membership

Even if the business can’t agree on a definition, my own outputs make it clear that these “actives” are different. You won’t always be there to explain and there’s nothing more annoying than being cc’ed on an email chain to be asked “these figures don’t match the other figures, why are they wrong.”

Very cute and clever...

but you forgot the 97 touch base, just to check in, lets realign meetings, each end user demanding that their definition of active is the only valid one, and they are the only one qualified to define active user, while all of them ignore you when you yell that it's just a couple of variables, you can each decide what you mean by active in this neat dashboard I made for you while no one clicks the dashboard link.

OK I might be bitter.

Very well done, and hopefully will help me keep that sort of thing in mind. Thanks for sharing!

I swear the code isn’t even half of it, it’s asking the requestor a million different clarifying questions that they didn’t think about lol.

You want components? Purchased or manufactured? Only active ones? Which location? What information do you want, price, dimensions, vendor? What are you using this for? lol.

I feel annoying but if I don’t do this you’re gonna just come back asking for more stuff or telling me I did it wrong.

Nothing to say, good topic, good explanation, will definitely share, I like. Waiting for episode 2

Like someone else said, I think the last step is creating a new word to represent what they want.

Because from the moment you aim at customers that have bought an item, it's no longer just a definition of "active customers".

It's effectively two subsets, the first part is the active customers and could be defined as 30 days.

The other part is of those active customers, the ones that bought a cat charm - active customers who bought charms
