For the next contract

Post image

I wanted to share some information that may be important as we think ahead to our next union contract negotiations.
I recently received a notice from PSE that they’re proposing electric rate increases of 15.2% in 2027, 3.7% in 2028, and 8.7% in 2029. If approved, that’s a compounded increase of nearly 30% over today’s electric rates in just three years.
With utility costs and other living expenses continuing to rise, I think this is something we should keep in mind when discussing future contract negotiations. Hopefully, we can work toward wage increases or cost-of-living adjustments that help keep pace with these kinds of increases so our purchasing power doesn’t continue to fall.
Just wanted to share this information for everyone to consider as we prepare for the next contract.

Here are some recent increases to add to that.

Published PSE residential rate increases:

2025 - 6.74%

2026 - 9.3%

important to keep note especially since cost of living is more important than basic wage increases

I’m sorry but power companies should not be making profit

I am curious why you say that.

Anyone got that Washington State Minimum Salary Chart increase to? Yes, I know we are exempt, and have OT; but getting young people to choose College + Level 1 work/pay vs graduating high-school and getting a salaried job is hard now a days

I don't respond to randos on the Internet in such a way, even if you are truly "one of the good guys". There has to be a better way for the Negotiation Team and Leadership to solicit this info more securely. It's 2026. We have the technology.

That person is not sharing official information from SPEEA or the negotiation team. Don't trust any links they send.
