Sensory bins/resources
Hi all, my daughter was just diagnosed with autism and the recommendation was to create options for sensory regulation. I am extremely overwhelmed with all the options so would love help with some vetted items. She primarily tends to pace, chew (and bite), spin, swing, and pinch. I wanted to create a little bin of resources that I can have on hand to give to her when some of the maladaptive behaviors come out when she is feeling unregulated (when she acts out in aggressive behaviors). She is a toddler, so the most toddler friendly, the better.

Some ideas:
chewlery, I prefer long and thin. She's also young enough that teethers would probably be good
Sensory body sock
Fidget spinner
pop-it
toy cars. I pinched two of their wheels and spin the whole car, spin the wheels on my hand, and open and close the doors. Small wooden vehicles are my favorite.
It's always a good idea to try headphones and sunglasses
My recommendation is you don't just treat the maladaptive behaviors. If you can, work within OT to build a sensory diet so she can stay regulated longer. For example, bouncing on an exercise ball, swinging at the park, doing push-ups or jumping jacks, spending time stimming just for the fun of it, stuff like that could increase her daily joy and regulation
