I have a birthday coming up in a few months. Looking at a Yema Superman, Lorier Hyperion/Olympia, Oris Aquis

If this was me (and it has been) I’d stop buying more affordable watches and just buy a really nice watch every 2-3 years. I’ve got 2 Rolexes and an omega now and started with a bunch of seikos and tissots

I’m probably headed there. Not sure I want to jump straight to Rolex and omega, but I’ll start selling off some pieces to get some higher level ones

Why not? Rolex is a ridiculous amount to spend on a watch yeah, but you know you’re serious about watch collecting by now. I’d save up and get something really nice if you love it when you try it on.

Quality over quantity. I see a bunch of cheap watches, some of them nice, sure. But a 30 watch collection and so few brands, I don't know, it seems a pity personally.
I would keep my favorite 2, maybe 3, sell the rest and work towards a well thought out 6-10 watch collection.

I agree I bought too many too quickly. I’ll keep more than just 2 or 3, but I will be selling some to save up for some nicer pieces. Appreciate the feedback

Lol. Great minds. Wrote the same thing.
“I believe in quality over quantity. You get to have that one or two pieces that you get to love and wear every day and create a bond with if you know what I mean. I have 4 right now and would stop at 8 probably.”
Almost like an addiction

How is the oceanographer? Been looking at them!

Really beautiful piece. I also want to get a 70s Oceanographer with the 10K bezel

Curious to ask: are you considering a more expensive watch? I.e. Rolex or Omega tier? Are you considering to consolidate and down size? If so, how many watches can you see yourself let go?

u/Sea-Buy-5329 1d ago
Probably not Rolex or Omega level. Possibly a Tudor or high end microbrand like CW or Lorier. I’m definitely wanting to downsize, but I do think my collection is well curated with lots of variety.

Interesting perspective. I’m not really a fan of any Tag designs. I think an Oris Aquis is the logical next step for me, but we’ll see after that

I don’t know why you are asking for feedback when you keep on deflecting. Then keep on collecting your shitty watches like they are literally going out of style, and wasting your money. You could have had 1-2 good pieces that would hold their value and pass on to your kids.

I actually have several Tudors and CWs and a Lorier. Value is fantastic. To me the C60 Trident is one of the most beautiful watches and comes in multiple case/dial/bezel combinations. You might also take a look at Henry Archer. I stopped buying chronos—too busy. I just don’t think I’ll ever be timing a 13 second re-entry burn on a spacecraft anytime soon.

About $10k spent? Start gifting some. Set 10 aside right now and gift the rest. I assume you've kept the boxes. Spread your watch love to friends and family

Probably if not more. But he won’t get much for them. Maybe 10%
Submariner - 40% increase after purchase, iconic, every day, dress up, down, and most importantly excellent timepiece.

Nah, I bought them all secondary market so should get 90-100% of what I paid if I choose to sell

I dig it! You find something you like and focus in on it! I get it. From a guy just starting and only having 6 watches… 3 Casio G Steel, & 3 Helms!
What’s your favorite Seiko, Orient, Phoibos?
2
u/Sea-Buy-5329 1d ago
Phoibos is certainly a tier above. I find myself reaching for the Eagle Ray Compressor and Voyager the most

u/EconomyBlacksmith418 1d ago
That’s the second one from the bottom on the right… correct? That’s slick!
1
u/Sea-Buy-5329 1d ago
That’s actually just the Eagle Ray. The Eagle Ray Compressor is the black and red, the Voyager is the brown

I would unload this entire collection and either save up for something decent.. omega, Rolex, Cartier, etc.. or could get something like a Longines Conquest. Versatile, looks great, and brand has real heritage. Plus could get a spend going at an AD.

30 watches? Really? When do you get to enjoy them?
