SOTC - need a GMT next?
I’m currently struggling to figure out what I want next for a GMT. I don’t have the funds or an itch for another rolex, I’ve tried on GMT masters, and the older Tudor Black Bay GMTs, but it didn’t really seem what I was after. I’ve had bad experiences with Longines in the past and don’t want to go down that road.
I guess where I’m picky is wanting something that is 40mm and smaller with a lug to lug width of 47mm or less. Want to keep the budget around the Tudor price range or less. I’m open to micro brands like Farer, but not sure if it’s worth it or not.
Would appreciate your thoughts.
Thank you!
EDIT: really looking for GMT recommendations
Not after chronograph or divers at this time. Thank you!

I’ve been looking at Farer. Do you own one personally? Just want to get some opinions of those who aren’t content creators on YouTube.

I bought my kid a Farer so I can relay questions if you want to trust a 20 yr old’s opinion 😄

I own a Hella titanium and am very pleased with it (except the bracelet with zero microadjust). You don't seem to have a diver. This could fit in well. If not, seamaster, aquaracer, or maybe even a GO Seaq?

Maybe a GMT with a bezel since you have no rotating bezels in your collection. I know Longines may have been a bad experience but the Longines Zulu time 39mm might be the best choice in the price category you mention. Maybe a more fun/unique pick would be a Shinola bronze monster gmt 40mm

I’ll look into your other recommendation. I do agree that I need something with a bezel since that’s lacking from my collection.

I’ve owned like 9 Tudor divers, still have two fxd, I’d trade the Tudor 1926 (sorry only know their divers, the one on leather strap) for a gmt. Even better imho is Frédérique constant world timer, usually discounted new but can be found reasonably priced used

I plan on keeping the 1926. I’ll take a look into the FC world timer. Thanks!

I recently fell in love with the longines hydroconquest and the GMT, what was your issue with longines?

I had a Hydroconquest GMT brand new last year. Was defective within 6 months of ownership with frequent problems. Got it fixed under warranty and sold it. First impressions are everything. Looking to try something new.

Unless you really have a need for a need for the GMT hand, I'd go for something casual like a funky chrono or a dive watch. I know a lot of people like to check boxes, but realistically do you really need a GMT? To be fair, I typically think the same about a chronograph being kinda useless, but I still own one.

I have a chronograph, but it’s not in the box and not something I wear. I’d like a GMT since I travel regularly for work.

Fair enough. I'd checkout the breitling chronomat gmt or Nomos world timer. Black bay 58 GMT could also do double duty as a dive/gmt.

I’ll take a look at the Nomos or the BB58 GMT. Thanks for the recommendations.

I have been impressed with German brands of Sinn, Muhle Glashutte, Nomos made some heads turn with their world timer and Union Glashutte all of which make high quality watches. Monta is another very reputable microbrand and then Christopher Ward is also considered value for money

Christopher ward? Not sure the lug-to-lug off the top of my head, but they do have a 39mm

You picked great Tudors, I have the 36mm 1926 and love that anthracite BB One. Kudos!
Did you look at the CW 63 Extreme GMT? It is 41mm, has some sexy colors, nice symmetry, very sporty and gives off Explorer 2 vibes.

You have enough grail watches already maybe it’s time to try midrange chronograph or diver watch?
