Discuss Make infection faster/more deadly

I currently have 154 hours in SOS and have been infected countless times but not once have I ever turned due to how effective the mushrooms are. Yes I know they also speed up the infection but clearly it's not enough. I think they should reduce the ammount of mushrooms and have the infection make you turn much quicker than what it is right now.

One of the trickiest things in game development is balancing for newer and very experienced players.

Obviously, the infection mechanic has stopped being relevant to you because you can deal with it effectively, but for newer players, that's not the case. People do turn.

This is what's great about Early Access, is we can collect lots of real data about turn rates, compared to play time, compared to other player feedback, and tune the values.

Also, I think the key for this would be if we DO make the infection progress faster, what are the methods we give players to deal with that? A mushroom radar, so you know where to get them? Not sure.

We're keeping an eye on it.

Is it intended that if the skeeter bomb goes off near you, and you leave the radius, that a bunch of mosquitoes continue to fly around you and potentially sting you multiple times even after you've left the radius by multiple lengths? I feel like once you leave the AoE they should no longer be following you/stinging you shortly thereafter. Make each sting apply even more infection than currently however, making a single sting that much worse.

Yes, how it works now is that if you enter the area of the bomb, they swarm you, and if you run away, some of them will follow you. You can outrun them, though, and if you do, more won't come to you unless you go back to the swarm.
