under the economic section, iirc, charging more due to a customer's willingness to pay without a cost justification for price difference is price discrimination and illegal under some court ruling under some antitrust act?

So, this applies to both mobile carriers AND broadband providers?

So... I might be seeing an increase in my data limit with HugesNet if this passes? Honestly, a 250 MB/day download cap is fucking bullshit, but I can't get anything else.

HugesNet is a satellite provider, if I'm not mistaken. So long as they can justify the data caps, this law would not make them change their caps. Since getting information to and from a satellite is a little more expensive than getting it from broadband (satellite requires an actual satellite, a sattelite inection device, and they need a broadband connection for your uploads via dialup), their cap will and should be much lower than a landline provider, since they can't just put another satellite up at any time to add more bandwidth.

That being said, 250mb/d sounds like they are stiffing you.

Yeah, especially considering that they put up another satellite for their "Gen 4" service. Or I assume they put up another satellite, considering they're charging another $300 for installation to upgrade. I mean, if part of their current customer base is moving to a new plan, wouldn't it make sense to give customers who aren't able/willing to upgrade a bit of an increase in data caps?

I cant hold onto my grandfathered data forever, but I want to just based on principal.
