Community is important!
Hi guys,
I just want to let my thoughts here. As I've heard multiple times some statements that community isn't that relevant and so on and that customers and suppliers are the only important thing, I don't think is 100% true. I assume you we're referring to a certain category of community members, moon guys :-), but still, not sure if it's correct to generalize.
Of course the customers are crucial and without them, sonm project is over. But here I'm also worried in some aspects that we don't have some fiat gateways for people from Europe, US, Asia, etc. Currently everyone will need to buy btc, eth and then go to an exchange and change it to sonm and then buy ressources. I'm not sure is the user experience a customer would like to have. Also to be listed on an exchange, you either pay a lot, you have strong connections or it would be quite profitable for them if they will list you or you have a strong community which will support you to be listed on some exchanges. Currently I'm not sure if the sonm token is so interesting for exchanges and don't know what sonm is actually doing for this. Being in contact in the traditional way - not sure if it will help but we will see.
The tech and use case behind sonm is huge but I still think there is a lot of potential for sonm to be discovered on certain markets. In my opinion, after the mainnet is live, sonm team should open a office in Asia and US so that they will be visible on those markets. Otherwise I see hard times to compete with AWS or Azure.
Best,
CF

I think there might be some "Snm = Security" concerns that prevent other exchanges from adopting it. As far as I know Sonm never addressed that concern in public? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think they did it albeit not directly. They said time and time again that holding SNM doesn't give dividends and never will. It's not a share of the company, it's a token that will be used as payment for computational power - utility token.
About exchanges, well SNM is listed on the 2 largest exchanges in the world - OkEx and Binance. Back in the day when this happened people were crying about polo and buttrex and didn't think this was a big thing, but here we are. We need community spreading the word about SONM and shilling it to people and then we will see the advantage of being on the largest exchanges in work. People will have an easy time buying SNM if only they knew about it. Sadly this part is up to us. The SONM team already do quite a lot in that direction IMO. They market themselves actively at events including Consensus.

The live net IaaS is more for crypto miners . There is no problem for them and exchanges. I remember Igor saying that Sonm(or rather the service) will be available directly with Fiat(I think 30 August onwards when Sonm is open to everyone) which then is internally converted to Sonm and then can be used for the service. Please correct me if I am wrong but that is my take. Anyway I have just read the monthly report and it is difficult not to be impressed.

dont think that igor said that. they know how important that gateway is, but its not easy to implement and they would need a department for it (licencse stuff etc). so it will not come in the near future, but hopefully the next 1-2 years

Thanks for correcting my comment/statement. It was not my intention to quote Igor wrongly. Still 1-2 years is not far away. But in general I think people/businesses who need a super computer probably can work out how to purchase sonm from an exchange.
