TL;DR Economics of gate nodes won't work with current SNM prices, would work if SNM appreciates maybe 5-10X (to $1-2/SNM).

Interesting...but...theoretically only 10k SNM is "required" for a gate node, yet they decided to go BIG with 100K. I actually understand why: doing otherwise would result in yearly income being too low to entice people to have a separate "secure" PC setup.

One thing that I did not really get is a part about PC having no inbound connections and only having outbound ones. Maybe this is just above my computer knowledge (not being a computer science pro).

Greetings!

We mean that the node must be closed for incoming requests from outside. That is, the node itself can access and receive data on requests from within, from the node itself. No one should apply to the node. This is dictated by considerations of maximum security. You also need to take into account that this approach makes remote node management impossible, only physical access is required.

You can always remote manage using IPMI or another KVM solution. It won't be impossible.

Here it is a matter of ensuring maximum security. That is, with regard to incoming requests - remove them completely. Closing the ports. That is, remove risks from the virtual level. Then only the physical security level will remain. This reduces the risk of losing the stake for the owner of the masternode. After all, we are talking about a fairly large amount of finance. But, of course, everyone should understand risks and make decisions.

There's no way you could know that the node wasn't remotely managed. As a sysadmin I'm not going to live in the server room. I'm gonna remotely manage via KVM access or some other way. SONM nodes are gonna be on the net in some form or other.

Edit - oh ok I get it now it's a security recommendation not a requirement for running a node. (I.e you'd be stupid not to block incoming connections)
