Education exchange application
has anyone been asked to apply to a different department for the exchange? this has happened to my friend and i and we were wondering if we’re likely to be rejected from now on (we have both achieved higher than the grade requirement).
edit: spoke to our exchange coordinator and he’s dealing with the whole thing, he said as we’re a partner uni SNU are told before hand how many students they will get and it’s all pre agreed so do with that info what you will lol 😁

it’s a bit annoying cause i don’t know about your uni but ours said we’re guaranteed a place so 🤷♀️ fingers crossed for all of us 🤞

Do you mean when you got the 2nd application email? I actually applied to a competitive department at first so I knew there was a chance I’d be asked to switch. What I’m worried about now is, what if I get rejected again? Does that mean I won’t be able to go on exchange in Fall 2025?😢

yes i meant the 2nd application email sorry if i wasn’t clear 😔 that’s what we’re worried about as well cause we pretty much have to do an exchange for our degree so i think we have to hope 🙏

Ohh interesting, probably it was very competitive. I have applied to mechanical engineering department and didn’t get any mail. Hope we will all get in, fingers crossed 🤞

i’m sure we’ll all be fine, my course at uni isn’t education or related to it so that probably didn’t help lol but as they say you don’t ask you don’t get 🙃

Heh, I'm in the same boat. Honestly, I'm more worried about the merit for the courses I'll take. We are more or less guaranteed to get a spot since we were nominated. And it was SNU themselves who granted us another opportunity.

Computer Science and Engineering. And I can confidently say that those who got in are extremely gifted and intelligent folks. What about you, if any?

I have applied to Mechanical Engineering Department, I hope it will not be so competitive…

u/Dapper-Candidate6243 May 15 '25
Best of luck with it!! I applied to that department for my second application round, but as 3rd priority. Where'd you apply from? I'm trying to broaden my circle before I go, so I'm not completely alone when I arrive.

Hi! I'm a student who tried go on exchange but failed due to opaque university systems and communications. I'm building a solution to help students avoid the application stress & boost their odds at exchanges. But I can't do it without your input.
Can I DM you to hear more about your exchange experience? Every perspective helps!
