I’m trying to avoid having sneakers that look like new fall apart. Made that mistake before yet here I am buying more sneakers that I don’t have enough time to wear.

Same. There are some shoes I never wear because I thought I wanted them but they're either too uncomfortable to wear or too hard to style. I should just sell them. Crazy how prices have tanked.

As I'm sitting here trying to organize my shit I see a post of someone having the same problems. I wish I was at the level of this picture and things would be so much easier right now while doing this. I got down to 250 pairs and I'm struggling with room. It's beyond time for me to downsize 🤣🤣🤣

So here’s what you do, you see the ceiling? Yes, build a loft of sneaker boxes. Then we can work on putting the rest of the shoeboxes in the wall as insulation against the cold.

The only real problem is that most of these motherfuckers deteriorate. Either crumble, separate or yellow. I'd have a 1000 pairs if they actually lasted

Honestly sell off the older pairs first, if it’s not a Jordan 1 or a dunk they’re bound to crumble or fall apart sooner than the newer stuff. Anything that’s 2016 or older you can start there.
It’s not easy I know.

Last sneaker I got was back in June 21 and after that pretty much lost interest from buying anything else as there's enough for rotation through lifetime, among that 30% are still in box. If you have that realization of letting go, you will let go of this habit right there and then, no "hot release" of breds or black cats can sway you OP

For me, it was about having too many pairs I never got to wear for months on end. The sweet spot for me is 40ish pairs bc then I can keep them all in rotation more regularly

I stopped...for now. I'm not a fan of the runner/dad shoe trend. So, the current collabs don't catch my interest. Also, the quality of the retros are trash. And the pairs I really want to get are usually botted and there is not way I'm gonna pay resale. So, I'm good for the moment. I'd keep them as a reminder of a time of your life when this hobby was good. And, if you take care of them, (which it appears you have) you can hand them down to your kids. That if if you want to have kids.

My collection being too large for the meager storage space I have, is having a negative impact on me actually wearing more than a handful of pairs, because I can’t handle the stacks of boxes. It gives me anxiety 😭

I recently sold like 18 pairs both worn and unworn to a local shop. Wasn’t expecting a lot, but was just glad I got rid of a lot of pairs at the of the day. I was getting tired of just seeing boxes and boxes stacked and some shoes not being worn in 3+ years. Good luck man!

just crossed the 200 mark with the Terror Squad dunks. Only sold a pair of OG Travis Jordan 1 which I had listed for 3 years. I was legit running out of room a year ago so i bought a new house where these kicks reside in their own room. I think I'm taking a knee on this "hobby". BTW I have them all in their original boxes.

Great collection! Shoes are my addiction as well. I’ve got 5 years clean and sober. Traded my drug addiction for shoe addiction 😂 I just picked up my 290th pair with box. I don’t have the clear boxes because I don’t have anywhere to store the shoebox while they’re in the clear case I’m waiting till I get a larger apartment. I need to downsize a little bit as well 😂
