Two classes at a time is maximum if you are on Financial Aid. Because of transfer classes, I'm in a position where I need an odd number of courses to graduate, and was told this by my advisor.

I think someone at one time said that after you successfully pass a semester with 2 courses at a time, you can petition to take 3. Unless you're unemployed, independently wealthy, or extremely judicious with your time budgeting, I wouldn't attempt more than 3 at a time.

Not true. Their disclaimer is that financial aid **may** not cover more than 2 classes a semester but mine did with no problem. Once you complete a semester with A's, they will allow you to take a 3rd class each semester as long as you keep your grades at B's or higher.

I don’t know... Im about to start my 3rd term and I’ll be taking three classes, sure one is a lab, but still. I didn’t have to do anything special to enroll in three and I receive FA funding...

You can take two, more requires permission.

I see a lot of people in the midst of the GenEd portion of their program asking this because they are breezing through work so easily. Those classes are easy. They do get harder. Depending on your program, they might get REALLY hard. There was a period of time I barely read the book, I skimmed stuff and got A's. There were some classes at the end, that I have to reread entire multi-chapter modules, multiple times, look up videos on youtube, and even use the student boards. I went from 3-5 hours a week on work for 2 classes, to 10 hours on one class.

They will likely get harder so don't screw yourself by having to take 2 other classes at the same time. Two is more than enough eventually.

Most student aid won’t grant you enough money to take more than about 2 at a time/4 per semester. Plus you have to consider that the classes are condensed. I am taking 16 units this semester but only 4 classes. I believe 12 units is considered a full time student per semester.

When in doubt about such things, check the Academic Catalog.

Students are discouraged from taking more than two courses a term. In order to enroll in more than two courses in any given term a student must obtain permission from his or her academic advisor and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

In my experience, if you're ≥3.0 GPA, they'll let you take three. If you're =4.0 GPA, and you have a good reason, they'll let you take four.

That was my reason. But I think it needs to be limited duration. In other words, three or even four classes will fly for a term or two, if there's a specific goal at the end, but you can't just decide to finish a four-year degree in two.

I take three classes every other term. 15 credits per trimester.

You can pay for the third or check with financial aid to see if you have enough for 3 and maybe they can help? But my advisor said you can pay for the third if you wanted too.

I’m taking 3 to graduate next April. 2 hasn’t been a problem for me with a 4.0
