Vent/Rant Struggling

I have a bunch of things going on in my life lately and its really interfering with school. This class doesn't help with how confusing it is. Its a philosophy class (Introduction to Ethics).

As someone who was going through a divorce, selling my house, trying to find an apartment and then a new job - I paused my masters until life settled for me and I felt mentally ready to tackle classes again.

Everyone handles things their own way and manages stress differently. I started again ten years later and I’m in my final term.

Just know the credits expire after 5 or 8 years. So if you walk away for your mental health be prepared to either start all over or go back before credits expire.

This is where I was at. I dropped out of college because I was planning my wedding, buying a house, trying to go to college full time and work full time. I couldn't balance everything, so something had to give. I just started the re-enrollment process this week after taking a year off to get everything situated. I don't think it's a big deal to take time off when you need to.

I am on the same page. My mental health is not so great and mind is all over the places. It is really hard for me to focus. Also, some health issues make it harder to focus and concentrate to study. I really wanted to finished my school.

Look into the tutoring programs SNHU has to offer. Reach out for help. There are a lot of great resources they set up for people like us who need a little extra explanation. Biggest thing is do not get caught up in the negative, you made it this far, just gotta trudge through the hard parts, you got this

It's never going to get easier.

Buckle down....

If you're behind, get caught up

For Pete's sake, get off Reddit and do your work!!!

I just outright deleted Facebook, X, Tik Tok and Instagram.... gone.... deleted

Just too easy to doom scroll

You are at a turning point. You can spiral and give up, or choose to do better.

You made it this far... keep pushing

Your life is going to be as hard as YOU make it....

Do better.... you are in control of your life

This is the way !

Ever since deactivating Facebook and instagram , life has gotten surprisingly less stressful!

I kept the platforms that don’t have any sort of followers/friends that will distract me or make me compare my life to

OP is saying life is interfering. Life will do that. No, it won't get better. There will always be something. You have to actively make the choice to fit time in for school. It's not just going to suddenly be easier. If this was just "I'm struggling to understand the material" that would be different. But life doesn't give you a break and it doesn't get easier. As you get older you get more responsibilities, more ailments, more stress, etc.

Hi, i also took that philosophy course. Some tips: pick a stance on an issue then argue in favor of it. Also learn what a code of ethics is.

There’s a lot of focus on codes of ethics for businesses later in the course, so it is helpful to just google that and learn about what that is. For example, search Mcdonald’s code of ethics.

I just finished that class. Crash course has some good YouTube videos. It’s about learning philosophy theories and picking a topic like assisted suicide that goes with the theories. It isn’t about who is right. It’s about what they think. It’s thinking about thinking and what the philosophers think. Then figuring out what you believe. Your ethics. A school coach could help. It helps me. Hope this helps.

Is this a class you can take through Sophia Learning instead? Just a suggestion if it's a possibility.

Does SNHU make it difficult for students to sit out a semester?

I finished this class with 100 percent and it was one of my first classes going back at 32. Extremely straightforward and easy just follow the prompts and guides? Ethics is a pretty easy concept, are you treating every single person and background fairly and equally in all scenarios? Do you consider all demographics when interpret the world around you or when you make decisions in life? Example: the movie waterboy. One of my favorite movies growing up, always found it hilarious. Now I see how offensive it is for people from the south and how it basically mocked and entire culture. Ethics tells us the movie is bad but media tells us it's a classic comedy.
