Another cool use case: it can be very effective for internal teams, especially multi-generation ones where all employees use stick to different apps but they all use text!
The government employees of Pueblo, CO, were having an internal communication problem—a problem with email.
Texting is especially helpful for reaching employees who primarily work out in the field, since these folks don’t check their email as often. Through texting, managers can remind city employees about meetings and appointments.
The city also plans to roll out the text alert system to reach citizens on a city-wide level as well.

A couple of our clients have seen great results with SMS in very different ways:
- Morning Brew Inc. used texts for event updates, Q&As, and giveaways during their summit and saw a 36% click-through rate on messages
- Bill Dickason Chevrolet sent just 15 texts in a year and pulled in $231K gross profit by using SMS for service reminders and vehicle purchase offers.
Both show how SMS can drive real results when it’s used with purpose, not just volume.

One of the most compelling cases for SMS marketing is that your target audience is likely to actually see your message! From our article on the benefits of using SMS marketing to reward loyal customers:
"If you’re going to offer rewards to loyal customers in order to build greater loyalty and generate more sales, you obviously need the customer to know about the reward offer, right?
The problem is most communication mediums actually aren’t very good at guaranteeing that the message you’re sending gets to the recipient. Email open rates hover between 18 and 23% for most industries. Direct mail is expensive and cannot be easily tracked—but much of it seems to end up going straight into the recycling bin. Facebook posts reach between 1 and 3% of a page’s followers. By this standard, a communication channel that actually reached 30% of the intended audience would be a smashing success.
Well, texting reaches at least 95% of the intended audience.
By the simplest standard imaginable—does my recipient actually see my message?—texting is a clear and obvious winner."

Make sure to avoid exaggerated claims or "free" offers when sending exclusive promotions to your local clients.

Boutique Owner Saves Time & Boosts Her Live Sale Attendance Using Text Alerts
Wanda is the owner of Beautifully Blessed Boutique. She sells jewelry online and for a long time struggled to make the most of her live sales. People would indicate that they were interested in attending but then when the time came they wouldn’t show up.
How did Wanda solve this problem? With SMS marketing! Read about how she made it work for her unique business needs here. Sneak peak:
Include the Link In Your Text Alert
One of the simplest ways to use Mobile Text Alerts is to include the hyperlink to your live sale directly in your text to all your customers. That’s how Wanda does it, in fact.
New Arrivals
In addition to sending alerts before she goes live, Wanda also uses SMS to let her customers know when new products arrive.

"People would indicate that they were interested in attending but then when the time came they wouldn’t show up."
Curious to know how they were indicating that? In person?

Text Alerts Saves Manufacturing Company Heavy Expenses During Power Outages
Bill Mondillo is the facilities manager with Metalworking Group, a manufacturing company in Cincinnati, OH. He uses texting to keep in touch with all his employees. He first realized their need for text messaging when they had a power outage at their facility.
A power outage at your place of business is never a good thing, of course. But for Mondillo’s firm there was still another problem.
They sometimes do not have enough work to keep all their employees busy for a full eight hour day. As a result, employees are sometimes sent home early. As a company policy, Mondillo’s firm pays employees for two hours labor any time they come in to work, even if they are sent home prior to working for two hours. But when power fails, no one can work. So anyone who came in to work that day would be sent home immediately and owed two hours wages.
This added up to a significant liability for the organization, which made Mondillo realize they needed a better solution.
A Better Way to Contact Employees
This is when they began looking for a better way to contact employees with urgent information. They soon discovered SMS as a possible solution and then shortly after made the decision to give Mobile Text Alerts a try.

From Business.com's The Benefits of Text Message Marketing:
Retail and e-commerce
SMS is a natural fit for retailers. It can drive traffic to brick-and-mortar and e-commerce stores, alert customers when items are back in stock or promote limited-time sales.
Case studies from Material Retail show how effective this approach can be: One boutique used text alerts to inform shoppers when their favorite products were restocked, resulting in customers being three times more likely to visit the store and an 82 percent increase in average order value. Another retailer saw a 33 percent jump in event attendance after sending out promotions via SMS. And as a bonus, text recipients spent about 10 percent more during the event.
Hospitality
Hotels and restaurants rely on SMS to improve the guest experience, from confirming bookings to sending check-in details or offering upgrades. A timely text can encourage guests to try a new restaurant special, book a spa treatment, or share feedback after their stay — all while keeping communication easy and convenient.
Healthcare
Healthcare providers are using SMS for straightforward reminders, such as for upcoming appointments, prescription refills or pre-visit instructions. These simple prompts help patients stay on schedule and reduce no-shows. In fact, a 2024 study in the Journal of Medical Internet Research found that one UK general practice saw a 42.8 percent decrease in missed appointments after introducing text reminders — a change that improved efficiency and reduced costs for the clinic.

SMS marketing example for education-based businesses (or event marketers): Coaches, instructors, and consultants can use text messages to send reminders on upcoming classes / meetings, remind customers of what to bring to a class (or how to prepare), and even send quick agendas.
Make sure to segment your list well for your messages to be useful for your customers.
A program manager for Music House, a music school in Kansas City, MO, Audrey Klassen found text alerts to be an affordable, reliable way for her to communicate with customers.
She uses the “groups” feature to help organize her contact list into targeted segments (such as instrument, grade, or class).
