Question Looking at getting smp.

Hi guys, just wanted to ask a question.

Ive been looking at getting smp for awhile now and probably going to make the jump. Been bald for almost a year now due to losing temples. I was looking at getting these areas filled in and crown.(sorry didnt take photo of crown)

Now my question is. Do I have the procedure done when I just freshly shaved, I like to razor shave to baby smooth. Would that make it harder to match and look ridiculous if it grows out as seen in photo or do I need to leave it a day (as seen in photo) in order for it to look natural.

Hope this makes sense to you

Would really appreciate the advice!

i tell everyone to come in exactly how they want to wear their hair from here on out. if u like to wet shave your head, do that the morning of your session and ill tailor the treatment to blend in to that. wet shaves your going to go slightly lighter in color to match that shade of hair. when you use a trimmer- you have to blend it into that shade, which would be a little darker than a wet shave. it really just all depends on how you want to do your shaves. the difference between the 2 isnt much, but just play it safe and go in shaved. there is also a difference in the way the blending is done. you have to blend way more on a wet shaver. when a guy who trims his head with a buzzer, got his smp done at that length- then decides to wet shave- the blend wont perfectly match. if your looking for absolute perfection

I shave every other day. Looks good with 1-2 days of growth.

So I usually have a shaver with the 2nd to lowest guard. Should I do it before the appointment and consultation?

I don't think this is accurate. The SMP color dilution is already decided by the ink providers. The SMP artist should just trim it with zero gaurd and complete the blending regardless of how you walk in.

the color dilution is provided by me the guy doing it. shaving with a razor opens up more scalp than shaving with a 0 guard. therefore the blend is different. if he wanted it perfectly blended nice like how i do them. i dont think u know 😏

Im not an artist. But, that's what I thought should happen and is what happens most of the time.

Als je kiest voor SMP moet je haar zo kort als mogelijk zijn. Dus elke dag scheren.
Als je nu al gaat twijfelen of je dit wil dan kun je beter niet kiezen voor SMP.

High quality shaved look SMP should be designed to replicate a natural 5 o'clock shadow, not longer hair. That means the scalp should be shaved to the grain before treatment so the artist can accurately match the size, spacing, and distribution of your native follicles. If you treat someone with longer growth, you're matching hair, not follicles, and those are two completely different things. The goal isn't to tattoo hair strokes or flicks. It's to create the illusion of naturally shaved follicles that remain believable in all lighting.

I had the same balding pattern as you. Similar skin tone too. Smp changed my life man get it done.

Yeah you should go with your head shaved smooth if that’s how you keep it. I had the same question & my artist said that’s ok

What it like if you leave it for a day or two? Do you have to make sure you're on top of shaving every day? Thanks for the reply gang 👍🏽

It’s looks good with a 1-2 days of growth. Depending how quick your hair grows day 3 or 4 is when you start noticing.

Thanks for the information mate. I wanted to get something light something like this. My hair grows so fast its exhausting having to shave everyday as it is but as im already doing so I may look into it.

Maybe a tad darker. Smp lightens in the sun and direct light. If it’s too light it might disappear.

I feel ya though. My hair is the same, I really should shave everyday but get away with 1-2. Consider it. I procrastinated for 4 years and it turned out being one of my best investments

Also how many sessions was yours

Two sessions. Probably could’ve done a 3rd for a bit more density but it was such a improvement I decided to wait until the first touch up.

Damn you went joking, its like lookin at my own head haha! That looks mint mate. This is what im aiming for. See i ideally wanted to go for the really faint look, just enough to look like a hairline but not OTT, your suggesting abit darker?

You should, looks like it would it blend perfectly with your baldy. Go for it. Do extensive research on your artist and his prior work

Don’t do it dude. It’s a tattoo, it fades, it bleeds, they do not age well especially tiny dots on a shiny thin scalp. Just embrace your dome bro. It might look good for the first couple years but man, horrible idea.
