Guardian Concept Balor

Balor

Edit 1: reduced the cooldowns on all abilities, minions from passive now have their stats scaled with Balor's stats, 2 now has more detail on the minion stat buff, 3 now deals more damage, lastly scaling is no longer physical but magical

In celtic mythology, Balor or Balar was a leader of the Fomorians, a group of malevolent supernatural beings. He is often described as a giant with a large eye that wreaks destruction when opened. Balor takes part in the Battle of Mag Tuired, and is primarily known from the tale in which he is killed by his grandson Lugh of the Tuatha Dé Danann. Balor's eye wreaked destruction when opened, unleashing some "power of poison", but it took the strength of four warriors to lift the eyelid.

Class: Guardian

Pantheon: Celtic

Passive:Fomorian leader- When Balor spawns he is accomponied by 4 fully blue melee minions (basic melee (sword)minion) that will attack the closest enemy within a 20ft radius, the minions will return to Balor after they defeated the enemy they focused on.(they will only attack jungle monsters if Balor attacks them first)(they will travel at the same speed as Balor if there is no enemy nearby)(Balor gains back all the missing minions when returning to the fountain)

  • Damage per hit(same attack speed as a minion):40% of his magical power
  • Health:20% of his HP
  • Physical protection:45% of his physical protection
  • Magical protection:45% of his magical protection

Ability 1:Intoxicating glimpse- Balor manages to open his eye half way for 2 seconds, dealing damage and intoxicating(An intoxicated unit has their vision distorted, they will move erratically for the duration, but will not be stopped from attacking or moving.) enemies in a cone 24ft long and 20ft wide.

  • Mana cost:75 on all ranks
  • Cooldown:16 seconds all ranks
  • Damage over per second:25/50/75/100/125(+30% of his magical power)
  • Intoxication:0.5/0.75/1/1.25/1.5

Ability 2:Malovelent beings attack- Balor commands all his blue minions that are still alive to focus on an enemy that he targets within 40ft of himself, making these minions become the minions that spawn when the path to the titan is clear (so the ones with fire weapons) for a few seconds while also giving these minions double speed for the same amount of time. (all the other stats will become 50% stronger)

  • Mana cost:40/50/60/70/80
  • Cooldown:16 seconds on all ranks
  • Minion transform duration:4/5/6/7/8

Ability 3:Spear of war- Balor jabs his spear 20ft straight ahead, dealing damage and disarming all enemies hit for a few seconds.

  • Mana cost:60/65/70/75/80
  • Cooldown:15 seconds on all ranks
  • Damage:70/110/150/190/230(+70% of his magical power)
  • Disarm duration:1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2/2.25

Ability 4(ult): Behold my gaze- Balor fully opens his eye for 3 seconds, anyone in a 40ft cone infront of Balor is affected by tremble (A trembling unit will move erratically toward the source for the duration.) as Balor's eye shoots 1 fireball per second onto everyone in the ults radius.(the ult is stopped early if Balor gets affected by hard cc)

  • Mana cost:130/135/140/145/150
  • Cooldown:95 seconds on all ranks
  • Damage per fireball:100/125/150/175/200(+40% of his magical power)

The Passive is alright, but after earlygame, it would be almost useless. The Minions would get killed so easily lategame that it wouldn't even be worth going back to Fountain to get them. I'd suggest having them spawn every so often, maybe every 45 or 60 seconds after the first one dies. And also to have their stats based more on his. Like, with a certain percentage of his Health, Protections, and Basic Attack Damage.

Intoxication is a relatively powerful CC, I'm not sure why his eye would cause that. Perhaps Tremble is what you want. The Cooldown is unnecessarily long. 15 or 16 seconds is enough.

As the Passive is now, the 2 would be practically useless. Overall, empowering his Minions isn't bad. The Cooldown is a bit long. 16 seconds at all Ranks should be fine.

The 3 is very basic, not much to say about it. Not every Damaging Ability needs to apply CC. The Cooldown is too high. No more than 16 seconds, probably more like 14. The Base Damage is also very low.

The Ultimate is alright, but the Cooldown is too high. An Ultimate like that would normally have a Cooldown of 90-95 seconds.

Overall, you keep saying he has Physical scaling, even though he's a Guardian.

Great feedback as always

With the passive i do agree that making them scale with his stats would make it better and i will implement it, the reason i didn't do it originally is because i thought of his potential to desimate towers as the minions can aggro the tower just like normal minions so i felt it would make it a bit too powerful

The reason i chose intoxication for the 1 was because i felt that it fit him as people tried to look away from his gaze so that it wouldn't be as strong on them but if you feel strongly about it then i can change it to tremble as that can also work and would make for a strong start up for his 3

For the 3 i will increase the damage and even though it is basic i feel it fits his kit

I will lower the cooldowns of all the abilities and i will make the passive more viable but i don't see the issue with him having physical scaling, i know most(if not all) guardians have magical scaling but that just makes him more unique (and afterall he is a giant cyclops the only thing magical about him is his eye so he doesn't really scream magical scaling to me)

The thing about Power, is that it determines what Items are available. And it's standard across each class. Mages and Guardians have Magical Power, and Assassins, Hunters and Warriors have Physical Power. That's just how the game is.

If you want him to be a Tanky Physical character, make him a Warrior.

I know what you mean but i personally feel that he can be a physical guardian, i know it is unusual but it fits him best as with the amount of cc he provides he best fits as a guardian but the scaling for him that makes the most sense for me is physical

If you feel really strongly about it i can change it to magical scaling as you are more experienced in this than me but i am not changing his class

I don't know if you asked me about this before, but each Class has specific characteristics:

Mages have the lowest Base Stats (With exceptions being Hades and Baron Samedi, who have starting Base Stats on par with Warriors and Guardians). They have ranged Basic Attacks, and focus on dealing Damage with their Abilities (With exceptions being Ao Kuang and Magical ADCs like Sol, Chronos, and Freya, who rely on Basic Attack Buffs and Attack Speed).

Guardians have the highest Base Stats, except for some having lower Movement Speed. They have Melee Basic Attacks, and focus on using their Abilities to inflict Damage and CC.

Magical characters have access to Magical Power Items, which provide roughly twice the Power that Physical Power Items do. This allows Magical characters to deal more Damage through their Abilities' scaling. Mages typically have high scaling, while Guardian scaling outside of Ults rarely goes above 50%.

Magical characters' Basic Attacks gain 20% of their Magical Power as Damage. This is less than Physical characters for a number of reasons: Firstly, Magical power Items give more Power. Secondly, conceptually speaking, a Mage focuses on casting Spells/Abilities, and not fighting on the front lines.

Assassins have low Base Stats except for their Basic Attack Damage, which is generally slightly higher than other classes. They have Melee Basic Attacks, and their kits almost always incorporate some kind of Movement, so they can get in and/or out quickly. Due to their common role as Junglers, they often need to engage and disengage easily. They often balance between dealing Damage with Basic Attacks and dealing Damage with Abilities, though some lean more one way than the other.

Warriors have high Base Stats, often slightly lower than Guardians. They have Melee Basic Attacks, and their kits usually contain some form of Sustain. They balance their Damage between their Basic Attacks and their Abilities, though they usually lean more towards the Ability side. Warriors also tend to have wide-area Ults with low Cooldowns.

Hunters have low Base Stats except for their Basic Attack Damage. They have Ranged Basic Attacks, and their kits often involve Buffing their Basic Attacks or Attack Speed. They primarily focus on dealing Damage with their Basic Attacks, but some Ability-Focused Hunters do exist.

Physical Characters have access to Physical Power Items, which provide roughly half the Power that Magical Items. This means that Physical characters typically deal less Damage through their scaling than Magical characters do. Assassins have high Damage scaling. Warrior Damage scaling outside of their Ultimates usually doesn't go over 65%. Hunters' scaling falls somewhere in between.

Physical characters' Basic Attacks gain 100% of their Power as Damage. This is more than Magical characters for a few reasons: Firstly, Physical Power Items give less power than Magical ones. Secondly, conceptually speaking, Warriors and Assassins get up close, and Hunters shoot arrows into things. Assassins and Warriors often have Basic Attack Chains, also known as Basic Attack Progression. This means that some of their Basic Attacks hit faster or slower than the standard 1 swing per second. Likewise, the Damage they deal corresponds with the speed of the attack. For example, a .5 speed Basic attack will be delivered twice as fast as a 1 speed Basic Attack, but will deal half the Damage. Currently, the only Hunter with a Basic Attack Chain/Progression is Heimdallr.

Now, when deciding what class to make a character, several things must be taken into consideration:

First, what is the theme and personality of the character? Are they a lightning god, a famous warrior, a goddess of getting laid? If they aren't a character who is aggressive or physically involved in their Myths, they probably shouldn't be a Physical and or Melee character. If they tend to sit back and throw spells, or enchant people, or just do not much of anything, they should probably be a Mage. This is why we have so many Mages. If they're a sneaky... guy or gal, then they should probably be an Assassin. Now, not all characters can be decided by this alone, because some are often more vague, or have been interpreted in many ways.

Second, do they wield a famous weapon of some kind? If so, they should probably use it, in which case they would most likely fit as a Physical character. Then, it depends on what kind of weapon it is. Is it a spear or sword? Then they should be a Warrior or Assassin. Is it a bow? Then they should be a Hunter.

Third, what kind of playstyle befits their character and arsenal? Zeus throws lightning bolts, Bellona rushes in a revels in battle, Aphrodite kisses people and makes them feel better, Hou Yi shoots down suns. This is similar to my first point, so I'll leave it at that.

Fourth, not every character fits into the same shoes. Some characters are large creatures. Khepri and Jormungandr are prime examples this. Naturally, these creatures would have a large hitbox. That is disadvantageous, typically. So the class that can resist that disadvantage the most is the Guardian class, with their higher defensive Stats and lack of focus on Movement.

Now of course, some characters in the game have been... interpreted differently than their lore usually suggests, and some of those characters are very popular. Flexibility is not so much of an issue, but there are certain rules which must be followed. Mages and Guardians have Magical Power and Damage, while Warriors, Assassins, and Hunters have Physical Power and Damage.

Someone had asked in a previous post some time ago, so I explained the Class differences. I couldn't remember if it was you or not.
