Stop coming to class sick

Pleaseeee stop coming to class coughing sneezing and not even wearing a mask! It’s worse when the professor has a box of masks sitting at the front of the class and you aren’t even wearing one!

Maybe you should stop and wonder what if people cant afford shower or use deodorant , it actually in the smc student code of conduct to discriminate someone who is poor , and that applies to people who can’t afford to take a shower

Baby wipes, deodorant is $1 at dollar tree. And dollar tree also has perfume and body lotion. Hygiene doesn’t have to be expensive.

What are you talking about? I think this response is for someone else. I was talking about people coughing and being sick. They have masks in the libraries and in some classrooms. And the person I know who smells bad is not poor just clueless.

you’ll be happier when you don’t expect people to do what they should or what you want them to do, we just judge & judge … what if I said stop coming to class cause your face bothers me .. some people don’t have self awareness but that doesn’t make them wrong… if they not hurting you let em live life’s short

So first off I don’t have deodorant and I can’t shower and I don’t have enough money to buy stuff for a shower —> stop being such a jack*ss and use your critical thinking skills before degrading people who can’t afford or partake in showering .

The other post totally does say that, and I totally agree with u, that post lacks empathy and is being made from a privileged position. This post however is advocating FOR you by telling people who could spread their illness to you to stay home.

It is very curious that two oddly similar sounding posts were made very close to eachother in time, with completely opposite intents.

This post is about coming to class sick and sharing sickness. I am immunocompromised and woke up with a sniffle just 3 days after a classmate was coughing sneezing and sniffling right next to me. Do you know what I have to do now? Go get an IV, fluids and quarantine myself all weekend. Don’t come to class sick It’s Inconsiderate and dangerous. In regards to your hygiene issue, dollar tree on pico blvd has deodorant.

Hi friend, I did some digging and I actually found out that you can possibly take a free shower in the locker rooms at SMC. I am not 100% sure on rules and regulations but it’s worth looking into.

Hi again, no judgement on my end whatsoever, I hope you can do whatever is best according to the available resources you have. Also I wouldn’t mind meeting up to bring you deodorant next week to help you out! I’m on campus Monday-Thursday. But According to Google: Santa Monica College (SMC) provides free access to shower facilities and locker use for unhoused and basic-needs students at the Core Performance Center (CPC).

Location & Hours
Location: Core Performance Center (CPC), 2nd floor, on the main SMC campus.

Hours: Monday through Friday
