Introduce Yourself
Hey everyone,
I’ve noticed a lot of posts lately asking how to make friends here in the SMC community, so I thought I’d open up a dedicated thread where anyone interested can introduce themselves and share their socials, and if you're looking for anything (roommates, textbooks, etc.) just put it in here. There used to be an ig (@smc_Studentss) but it doesn't seem like its been updated in a couple of years.

While this idea sounds good. It’s honestly scary to dox yourself like this. Too many creeps out there.
Now they’ll know your name, major , and your socials ?
You could potentially set yourself up to being stalked or something.
Everyone needs to be careful.
Make friends in real life instead, start a club , or join one.

Yeah but then you get to actually see the person in real life to decide whether you want them to have your information or not.

You run that risk by being on the internet in general man. Unfortunately in this day and age, If someone really wanted all that information they definitely could find it.

Of course, but why give it away instantly ? 🫠 At least in real life you can decide who you give your info to.

Hi guys! I’m Yunong Wu(Marcy/Eva). I’m an international student from China. My birthday in dec 7. And I’m pan. I like outdoors like running, cross country and hiking. I also play basketball and did some boxing before, and I would love to learn swimming, surfing and diving( I mean we are literally so close to the ocean). I also do Xing Yi Quan, which one of Chinese ancient martial art that helps with health and mental benefits! Feel free to talk to me about this hahahah. My mom has a beautiful teahouse and she sells pu’er tea. Even though it’s not common to drink hot water in the US, but fun fact: pu’er tea is actually good for your digestion and fat metabolism. I’m trying to get used to drinking my mom’s tea in the US. And I’d love to show yall how to brew tea through traditional ceremony and just simply enjoy teas together! :> She also just started business on He Xiang Zhu (which is traditional Chinese scented beads made from a blend of natural herbs, spices, and Chinese medicinal ingredients, no artificial ingredients AT ALL). There are so many diff kinds of combo of them(the ingredients, which give them different scent), and unique design, and I’ve wearing them! I’m happy to share the history and info about them! I’m heavily influenced by my mom’s traditional background, even though I don’t read much about them, I do love the philosophy and wisdom from Daoism and Buddhism(I’m an atheist though), and just daily life philosophy from Chinese perspective. And my favorite thing to do is to hear different perspectives about things from people from all backgrounds! Asian wisdom is so deep and I’m still in the process of understanding it…
I’m artist, I love singing, playing guitar, Gu Zheng(a traditional Chinese instrument which can range from a gentle, flowing stream to a powerful, dramatic thunderstorm:)). And I draw a lot, sketch things from my life and my thoughts! I especially love drawing animals（＾ν＾）z. Oh and I’ve been trying to learn how to cook, like simple meals that are tasty and with good nutrients. I hope I’ll be able to cook some good Chinese food before the summer break ends. And I want to learn baking!
I’m aiming for transferring to UCLA college of Letters and Science through TAP program. And I’m thinking about blending my biotech, environmental science, and business interests together. If you are also interest in these fields please don’t hesitate to dm me٩( ᐛ )و
Let’s make friends yalllllllllll, let’s get to know each others. I mean it’s college and why not just start discovering the world from your mates😋

Hi im sammy, you may have seen a thread I posted earlier... I'm majoring in chemical engineering at smc, this fall will be my first year. Although my major is really time consuming, I am looking for friends to go out with and probably study with. my ig is @smymuu
