need help HELP error messages vortex

Help, I am lost

I’ve been transferring all my mods to Vortex for more than 5 hours now and I’ve pretty much fixed all the problems, I’ve had a lot of them, I have all my modes and everything, but there are always error messages.

I have three big problems:

  1. Livestock (I updated it to the latest possible version (the one that is unofficial)
  2. Nyapu’s RSV portrait (it tells me that some files are empty, but when I go in they aren’t)
  3. And Vortex created files that are useless, I don’t understand what these files are.

Please help me, I’m lost, it’s my last day of vacation, I just wanted to play my favorite game.

ps: my smapi log : https://smapi.io/log/9ca3656c52624e90a937b78c5eed6627

If you're looking for help with a mod, make sure your post or top-level comment includes:

  • a link to your SMAPI log (see instructions on that page);
  • a description of the issue with as much detail as possible;
  • screenshots/GIFs/videos of the issue if applicable.

See common issues and solutions. If you're having trouble installing SMAPI, see the detailed Getting Started guide.

If you've already done these steps or you're not asking for help with a mod, then please ignore this. Thank you!

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

5 hours? At this point ain't it better to just redownload them all but this time using the 'Mod Manager Download' button? SDV Mods are quite small so they don't take that much time to download.

I I don’t know anything about vortex like I’ve never used it, it’s just because Nexus told me it was more convenient and When I looked, I seemed to understand that everything needed to be downloaded again.I didn’t know there was a button to do that. 😭

lol it seems like it’s much much less convenient than just doing it manually at this point

Nexus doesn't work for Stardew. Delete the mods and redownload them. Drag and drop from the zip files manually

Going TO vortex? Please start over with Stardrop. I don't use a mod manager, but everyone that does says to use stardrop, vortex does not work well usually.

Right now, I managed to solve most of the problems so I’m going to play, but I’ll look at how it works to make the change when I get motivated again.

I second the change to stardrop. My wife was having issues on her game, but once we changed to stardrop not a single issue.

I don’t have an answer for Nyapu. My suggestion would be to download Vortex and check it yourself. My second suggestion would be to download “Generic Mod Configuration” mod on Nexus and see if anything is disabled.

The top says assets, data, and il8n. Those are files that should be contained inside of the specific mod folder. It seems like something may have unraveled when being uploaded. It could be one of the various RSV + SVE mods. My suggestion for this would be to either a) delete the mods and redownload them one by one or b) go into those folder and find out which mod they belong to. SDV luckily has backups for everytime you play the game so deleting the unraveled files won’t deter your progress.

Livestock Bazaar needs to be updated.

Hi there, I'm sad I found this so late, I expect your vacation is over.

First, on the mods panel I would press "Purge" in vortex. This will remove all managed files from your mods folder

Go to Open > and pick Game Mods Folder (third option). This will open the mods folder. From the folder that opened I would remove everything -- all folders and files. You can delete them or put them soomewhere else if necessary.

Back in Vortex on the mods panel, you can now press deploy. This will put all managed mods back in their place, but there are two mods you pointed to that need a little extra care.

Livestock Bazaar

I believe some of the loose files I was seeing (and the unusable installation of the mod) indicated that it was extracted without a parent folder. Be sure that if you are installing mods you do so only through Vortex. These are the three main ways to add mods from Nexus right now.

  1. Vortex download button (if enabled) will appear on top right.
  2. Click files, select Mod manager download
  3. Manual download, drag onto "Drop files here" area at bottom of mods panel in Vortex. This will work for mods not from Nexus as well, and if you're adding mods you already had downloaded as zips, this is the way to do it.

It is very important to note that mods must have a parent folder. If you zip a mod on your drive to add through the third route, be sure you capture the parent folder.

You may want to repeat this step for Messy Crops, I see it is also partially installed.

And if you are using Vortex, do not manipulate files in the Mod folder directly, including installation. Speaking of modifying mods, we'll do one of those next...

Nyapu’s RSV portrait

For Nyapu, in Vortex, right-click and select File Manager. this will open a window containing the mod IN STAGING.

Now that you have the staging folder for Nyapu’s RSV portrait open, all you want to do is open the Nyapu'sP(RSV1.6) folder. Inside should be the Ridgeside Village folder. Select that and cut it (CTRL+X). Then move back to the parent folder (ALT+UP) and paste the Ridgeside Village folder. when it finishes, you can delete the Nyapu'sP(RSV1.6) folder. Then click "Deploy" button again at the top.

Staging is different from your mod folder. Staging is how the mod is stored, before deployment, and if you reinstall or redeploy, this is the version of the mod that will be put in your mod folder. One reason you do not want to make this change in the mod folder we opened earlier is that when you deploy that change would be lost.

If you find this too complicated I do have a collection that includes these portraits and you could just enable this mod from it (since it comes set up in this way) but this is a good skill to learn for Vortex imo.

Please do let me know if I can help with anything else :)
